Having some trouble getting an MP game going with a friend. We are trying to use the latest beta, my version code is "Apr212005-(TZBV)" while he ends up with "Apr212005-(RGOV)" for some reason..

anyway, we can't play because of the different versions... anyone know what to do?

I'm have this exact same problem right now and I don't know why. I know I am using an EU2 version from the 6 in 1 pack while the others have the old single pack version of EU2 but that shouldn't matter shoud it?

No, not the asian version. Just straight up EU2.

Is this the same problem you were having when it told you that you had the wrong version? I finally got the beta patch working but now it says "RGOV" instead of the one everyone else has.

I am checking this out.

Nah, my problem was that my machine kept locking up after reinstalling and trying to play the game. When I was patched, I had the right version.

Any news on this, Castellon? Thanks for investigating the issue.

Would someone in the MP forum know?

You can ask, but The office does not open till Moday Morning so no answer till at least then. ;)

We will find out.

Okay here is the answer I recieved.

One is wrong (modded files) and one is right..

TZBV is the correct files.

So if you get something other than TZBV you are applying the patch to files that have been modded in some way.

That seems odd since he was doing it from a clean install - off the 6 in 1. I wonder if there is something wrong with the 6 in 1 version's files? Alternatively, perhaps your unzipping program is messing up the patch somehow?

Are you sure he was not trying to slip a cheat in?

I'm sure this isn't about cheating. However, if others with the 6 in 1 version are getting the right version code post-patch (ie. Chegitz) then it can't just be the 6 in 1 version, and there must be something wrong with the install apart from that I guess.

He said that he not only used the uninstall, he manually deleted the EU II folder. I've played other games with Oerdin, and while he's ruthless, he never struck me as a cheater.

Fraese, I don't have the 6-in-1. I've got standard EU II for North America.

I assure you I completely deleted my last install, removed any and all mods, went into explorer deleted ant remaining directories, then did a fresh install off of the 6 in 1 disk. I then downloaded 21 April 2005 beta patch from Johan's beta patch thread and installed as per the directions.

I am still getting the RGOV and I don't know why. :(

Did you only ever have one install and always in the same folder?

Well who confirmed that for you?

If this does turn out to be the case then one possible workaround would be to install the 1.08 patch over the 6-in-1 EU2 before any betas. This probably requires you to edit the registry to change the version number of your game since patches usually won't install over the same or higher version. This will work only if the patch contains all the files that are different of course. Be sure to make a backup of the game folder first since this may not work. Another possibility would be to just make a listing of all files in the game folder and all subfolders and try to find the different file. Could be just an extra space in a province name or something like that.
