I'm Brazilian and I'm using google translate, sorry for any grammar or related issues.

Summary
After a few minutes of gaming, somewhere between 5 and 10 minutes, the game crashes, although I keep hearing system sounds. My monitors (which are 3) remain off and do not turn on again, only after manually restarting the computer.

This had been happening in previous versions of the game less frequently, it happened with hours of gameplay. I believed it to be an OS or video card driver issue. I formatted the computer and installed windows 11 (before it was windows 10 and there was this problem too).

The following error is happening, which I suspect is a game issue is suspending my graphics drivers and leaving them turned off:

C#:
[gfx_dx11_fence.cpp:32]: D3D error: hr returned: The GPU device instance has been suspended. Use GetDeviceRemovedReason to determine the appropriate action
[gfx_dx11_master_context.cpp:676]: Failed creating fence

My System and Hardware
OS: Windows 11 (recently installed and updated);
CPU: Intel I7-10700k;
GPU: RTX 3070 (with newest driver version 531.29);
Memory: 32GB DDR4 2993MHz;
Game Version: Newst updated 1.2 (vanilla without mods), remebering that problem occurs in the older versions of the game too;

Attempts to solve the problem (without success)
- I reinstalled windows, but the problem remains;
- Reinstall NVIDEA drivers;
- I checked the integrity of files on steam;
- I tried to run in compatibility mode;
- I reinstalled the game several times.

It's not a hardware problem, because i can play others games without any problem, this only occurs on Victoria 3.
I'll leave the error logs attached on this forum.

I appreciate any help, I'm a big fan of Paradox and I've almost never had problems with the company's games.
I didn't call the support before, because I believed that this problem would be solved in this new big update of the game version to 1.2.

Right click on Victoria3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.

Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60.

Thanks for the reply AndrewT.

This problem occurred in another game, I believe that my PSU is not enough for my setup. I hadn't detected the problem before because I wasn't playing "heavier" games than Victoria 3 at the moment...

My PSU is only 650w and the game is consuming 550 approximately, if you consider that it is "80plus", it is consuming all the current that my PSU can supply, the operating system must have some system to avoid further damage, turning off my GPU.

What fps are you seeing in the game? if it is excessive, the steps I gave above should help with the power draw from the GPU.

I tried, until the game lasted longer after this setting, but the problem happens. I haven't tested it with all settings on low yet.

Take a look at my bug report here: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...ours-requiring-reboot-and-a-solution.1576917/

I had very similar symptoms. And similar error logs. It took longer for my crashes to happen. I have dual monitors and a 3090.

For me, Vic 3 was stressing my video card until it failed. This doesn't happen to me on any other game. Even Cyberpunk 2077 runs beautifully at very high settings with RT.

The solution for Vic 3 was to use the nVidia Control Panel to enforce a max frame rate of 50fps on Victoria3.exe. You might need to set your fps lower (40?) since you crash sooner. Vic 3 was maxing my GPU temps non-stop until I limited it.

Don't bother with the ingame FPS limiter. It doesn't work. That's why I made the bug report. Try nVidia's FPS limiter instead.

Also, are you playing streamed videos on your other monitors? I was using nVidia's very new streaming upscaler RTX VSR on Youtube videos on 2nd monitor while playing Victoria 3 on my primary monitor. This added a lot of extra stress to GPU. I now play those same videos, but without the upscaler. RTX VSR upscaler can be turned on or off in nVidia's control panel.
