Victoria 3 crashes soon after launching the game

I've play Victoria 3 before but I just restarted playing around the 8th or 9th of May. I played for a while without any issue but then the game stared crashing close to the end of the month. I tried reloading a couple of times and I changing some things but with the same results. All the autosaves disappeared so I could not go to a previous month end. Today I cannot even launch the game anymore. First it was crashing to desktop after a few minutes of loading but at the last attempt the launcher itself was not starting. As far as I know I don't have one of the Intel Processors impacted (it's 7th Generation i7-7700HQ).

The game and launcher are separate unrelated apps. Having them both fail at about the same time is suspicious!

What happens if you run victoria3.exe directly from File Explorer? That bypasses Steam and the launcher.



DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

I thought that I attached the DxDiag file. I've attached again now. I was able to start the game using the exe file directly and I played for around 10 in game years without any issues.

Please update that Nvidia driver to May 2024 https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

Then please expand your Windows paging file maximum size to 32gb

Optional: Increasing the paging file size on Windows computers

On computers that have 8 GB of RAM, the suggested paging file size is 16 GB.

Seems to work fine now. I've played until 1866 without any crashes
