How much "pain" is this causing you?
10

Please explain the issue you experienced in the most condensed way possible
The game constantly crashes on autosave. Sometimes it can last a couple years, but at times it happens on every month. I've tried reinstalling the game, verifying the integrity of game files, etc. But nothing seems to work

Please explain how to reproduce the issue
I don't do anything out of the ordinary. Game crashes on autosave while playing.

Is there anything else you think could help us identify/replicate the issue?

Hi! Could you please provide a zipped crash log folder found in Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria 3/crashes as well as a DxDiag log file found under Start Menu -> DxDiag -> Save all information?
Thanks!

Hi there, those folders are empty, unfortunately. I don't know why. I have no files in cache, crashes, dump, exceptions...

Not sure if I deactivated something.

Let me know if this is the case and then I can once again.

I have attached the document generated by DxDiag (hopefully that's the one?)

Since there are no crash dumps in the folder and the crashes appear in the DxDiag file, it looks like something system or hardware related.
Do you have enough space on your system drive? If the game crashes only on autosaves it appears that something might be interfering with the saving process (not enough space, disk write errors, etc.)

I'll move the thread to Technical Support forum, so that they can provide further assistance!

I tried playing without autosaving and I found no issues.

The game crashed again when I tried to save it manually (It didn't happen the first few times, but then it crashed at the 6th time).

I have 257 GB free on my PC.

Overall I didn't have these type of issues until a couple of days ago, and they have been increasing exponentially.

The game itself has not changed since 1.3.6 on 2023-06-29 , so something local must be triggering this. This is on every new unmodded campaign you start, is that right?

Memory: 16384MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 16292MB RAM
Page File: 54851MB used, 10591MB available

Display Memory: 14113 MB
Dedicated Memory: 5968 MB
Shared Memory: 8145 MB
You have a HUGE Windows paging file (over 64gb) which is mostly used up! You must be running a lot of stuff. And nVidia could be taking away half your system memory, leaving you with barely enough to run the game at all.

Try unloading every app you can before starting the game, is that any better?

What I meant is that I was not having these issues when I played the game last time, a few months ago (I had not played with the new DLC yet).

I decided to play again earlier this week and I am now experiencing those issues.

I have tried to close many apps, reducing it to 30% of the memory, 50% when the game is on, and it still happens.

Is this in a campaign started under the earlier patch? Or a new one you just started? Or both?

Can I please see a new dxdiag taken in that state, thanks.

AND:
Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria3/pdx_settings.json .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exceptions.log

Yes, it was a new campaign that I just started using the new patch.

I'll try to play again next week and see if I can replicate the same error, to provide those files.

Thanks for the support.
