Maybe a dumb question, but is this because you'll automatically trade with them like they were part of your customs union?
I don't think i am in a custom union with them.
I suspect the reason being Qing demolishing all their ports after the war (by judging from their available convoys). Seems unreasonable?

Also had this happen, thought the treaty port was bugged but looked and found they have no port buildings. Even without any ports on their end, the treaty port itself should be enough to enable trade routes by the port holder.

The AI loves demolishing all their ports but 1 in their home country and only building them in colonies right now.

France removed their own homeland ports (they have 1 in queue to be built but they have their construction queue paused) so they cut off their own market completely causing massive problems for them.

England only had 1 and I conquered it and turned it into a treaty port and their empire is now crippled.

I always thought the whole point of having a treaty port is that all trade to Qing can pass through the treaty port and then go to Qing through land connection. Why I still need port facilities on Qing’s part?

Also just an update, the problem mysteriously fixed itself after some years. Maybe they have built a port in their mainland but I haven’t checked
