Hiya

I just bought Ricky from GamersGate, tried to install it, and discovered that the installer didn't think that I had Victoria installed. Of course, I do have Victoria installed, albeit Vicky 1.03. I checked the INSTALL.txt file to see if anything strange had happened when I installed the game way back, checked around in the registry, etc., and it all seemed all right.

Then I thought that it might be beneficial to install 1.04 first. Of course, the 1.04 installer gave me the same error. I don't recall having any of these issues when I installed previous patches.

I don't have access to my install CD right now (until next week), so I can't really reinstall to fix any issues Windows might have with the game. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks a lot,

Tom.

Your options are to wait for the CD to magically become available or to drop the money on buying Victoria again from Gamer's Gate.

It's a little late to re-gift Victoria to a friend for Christmas, but you might make that introverted twelve year-old nephew or whatever a happy camper with your spare copy.

Fix

Hiya. I managed to get the Revolutions installer to recognise that Victoria was installed by modifying the registry using regedit.

Handily, Victoria comes with the INSTALL txt file--a log of everything that the installer does.

In INSTALL, there's a very readable set of the correct registry entries in a format like this:
"RegDB Key: SOFTWARE\Strategy First\Victoria
RegDB Val: C:\PROG~FBU\STRA~25L\Victoria
RegDB Name: Install Path
RegDB Root: 2"

They're at the beginning and end of the txt file and can be pretty easily followed. As an added bonus, Victoria also shows up in the Add or Remove Programs list.

Thanks for the help,

Tom.

I had a similar problem. I've bought the disc from Paradox. I was installing it, everything worked, but then something came up and I had to cancel installation. Well, when it tried again, I got "Victoria is not installed on this computer", even though I have Victoria 1.04 installed. Anyone have any suggestions?

As with the original poster, this is probably a registry problem. Who is the publisher of your Victoria? Some publishers apparently don't create the registry entries that Revolutions looks for. Check these threads for some related info:

I had the same problem...

It was so freakin easy to solve it made me laugh.

Just create a .reg file with the infos mentionned before, being sure that the paths you specify are correct : double click to add to the registry. HAve fun!
