Hi, around 2-3 weeks ago i brought HOI2 and first started to have problems with the graphics but they soon stopped and i thought nothing of it, but recency the problem has returned and i kinda need some advice.
Basicly what happens is that the screen keeps on flickering, Ive already tried closing all the files working bar the bare basics and changing the colour depth but still doesn't seem to work ,

What should i do next as i can't return the game as i have passed the cutoff date for returns

any help would be welcomed :)

I get exactly the same problem - since i swithched to teh new downloaded version. Another thing is now after a number of turns the country tiles goes close to monochrome dark and light grey and its very tough to get the colours back - ususlly a total system re-start. Graphically this version is very unstable at the moment.

Flickering in caused by something in the background.
Music match is often the culprit.
Look for mm.exe in the process tab and shut it down.

It has been a long time since I used ME, but if you Ctrl-Alt-Del, it should bring up a window that lets you see atleast the programs running right?

What is "Cpqmldet"
Have you ever had music Match on your system?

No. Music Match and Windows Media player are two different applications. Music Match has the nasty habit of staying active in the background and periodically wanting to do something. That (re)activates it's window, shifting the focus from the game to music match and back very briefly.

Because of the focus shift, Windows will briefly switch to the desktop and then back, which you perceive as flicker in your game.

As for the Cpqmldet process. Cpq.... files are usually management programs from Compaq. My bet is that this particular system is a Compaq (or, if it's a new system, a HP/Compaq). You could try and terminate it from the task manager though, and see if the problem goes away.

I'm having a video problem.

It seems that somehow my graphics are getting shrunk, while others aren't, and the sprites aren't appearing properly. Also, I just tried to run a Multiplayer game with a friend who didn't have the 1.3b patch like I did, and I got a whole bunch of strange, blue turd like things all over my screen, with the other problems as well.

To play MP you both need identical copies of the game, so you would both need the same patch or edits/mods.

As for your graphics, make sure you have the latest video driver.
