More IC, resources, territories, events, ministers, leaders and improved AI and minor bug fixes.
Great historical full-function scenario of the American war in Vietnam 1963 - 1975 with other possible outcomes to certain events. Many rivers, monsoons, jungles and VC guerrilla atacks.

Start out in 1963 with the Diem and Kennedy assasinations and proceed though the many Vietnam era events from the Gulf of Tonkin incident to past the S.A.L.T. treaty in 1975. Nuclear tensions are high with USA, Soviets and China while Laos, Cambodia, Taiwan, and Korea battle with communism. Besides the Vietnam War, Vietnam offers other possible regional conflicts such as another Korean war (technically they are still at war today), the Soviet-China conflict, Malaysia-Indonisian conflict and a China-Taiwan conflict. It also has influencial civil wars in countries such as Cambodia and Laos which could allow attacks within their neutral territories. Options to play with more agressive communists and an option to continue after 1975.

Now all starting countries are playable!
Playable countries: North or South Vietnam, Viet Cong, USA, USSR, China, Thailand, North
or South Korea. Also included are Laos, Cambodia, Taiwan, Phillipines, Malaysia, Singapore, Hmong, North China, Brunei and Japan. Australian and New Zealand troops are represented. Smaller countries now more involved. Best played with agressive AI settings.

New unit: Hercules SAM
New Units: Green Beret, AH-1 Cobra, Advanced Supersonic Fighter, Nuclear Sub, M41 Light-Tank, Titan ICBM, ABM, Paladin, Missile Launcher, Attack Helicopters, Advanced Air Cavalry.
New brigades: M42 Duster, M113, mobile rocket launcher, advanced transport.
New sprites: M-41 complete sprite and other basic 'stand' sprites for Vietnam and USA.
New music: Awesome optional sound track for the era in two zips: pre 68 and post 67, use one or both. To get the whole effect you really need both. Sound track rated PG!

New territory: Khe Sahn and 20 more territories!
Major map files change: 29 textured new territories added. Back up your originals? (see below)
There are some minor changes or additions to some config, db, minister, leader and tech files.
New graphics were added for a few new units, ministers, leaders and events.
A couple counters, flags and shields were modified. A sprite pack is available.
New AI files for all countries involved were added. Jungle warfare is enhanced.

Made vanilla friendly for Armageddon v1.1 but will work for all with the correct patch. Unzip files to Armaggedon, Doomsday or HOI2 top-level directory. No patch needed for Armageddon.

Files Amended: (you may want to back these up)
Config: world_names.csv, tech_names.csv, unit_names.csv, models.csv, province_names.csv
DB: country.csv, revolt.txt, province.csv
/Ministers: all playable countries
/Leaders: all playable countries
/Tech: special_weapons_tech.txt, infantry_tech.txt, armor_tech.txt, aircraft_tech.txt
/Units/divisions: flying_rocket.txt, light_armor.txt, paratrooper.txt, cavalry.txt, multirole.txt
GFX/map/shields: shield_u72.bmp, shield_idc.bmp
GFX/map/flags: flag_u72.bmp, flag_idc.bmp
GFX/palete: counter_idc.bmp, counter_U72.bmp
GFX/skins/default: fullscreen.bmp, sidebar_A.bmp, topbar.bmp
MAP: all map files

Have you considered using the Cold War Tech Extension to enhance your mod? It should not require much effort from you as it retains all techs from vanilla in previous shape. You just need the permission of Nomonhan.

Why create a new thread for a mod because of an update? Itn's it considered spam?

They did that with MDS, nobody seems to be bothered, as it is quite far in between every update.

Awesome!
But how about making a single file instead of a dozen different ones?

Great mod, unfortunately I appear to have some problems with the doomsday version.

A province between laos and Vietnam appears black and unexistent. Also, Japan appears to be No Man's land with no country watsoever owning it appart from some provinces under US control.

Also, ¿do you know where I may get a No time limit?

Thanks in advance.

You need the DD patch. The DD patch is now available for download. The Vietnam5.zip has been changed and also contains the DD patch.

Get the no-time limit from post #5 at the link above, post #2.

Its a great tech tree, but it is way too much for this scenario.

I downloaded the Vietnam Mod, but I have encountered a problem. When the scenario is loading it says something like "can't read usa.inc" whoever you choose to play. I have downloaded the mod for the HOI2 version. Any ways to fix this bug?

HOI2 can only use Vietnam version 4 for now. And make sure you apply the patch.

It was the version 4 that I downloaded, but it still gave me "cannot read usa.inc" I'll try again though.

usa.inc is not used in hoi2 version 4, hoi2_usa.inc is used. The hoi2 patch should be applied last.

Thanks for that, it worked that time. I tried as North Vietnam invading the South, I used about 10 divisions to invade Hue (bit too easy..) but I tried Danang and got my butt kicked. I noticed nearly all but one division of Viet Cong can't be used, is that event triggered?

Keep up the good work :)

I was playing North Vietnam, I invaded South Vietnam with the assistance of the Viet Cong. I was around the Lam Dong province and had the Mekong Delta provinces, so pretty much outside Saigon. I thought I might make it interesting:

1. Use the acceptall cheat.
2. Select South Vietnam "Sue for Peace" demand all provinces.
3. South Vietnam has only once province, Where the demand territory option was available, I selected that and ceded "Saigon" province.

The Viet Cong in the game is represented as a independent nation. I think either two things should happen:
1. When South Vietnam surrenders, an event fires for the Viet Cong to cede all provinces held to North Vietnam. Firing off the reunification event.
2. The Viet Cong is an army (which it is) under the directive of Hanoi. So, Viet Cong shouldn't be an independent nation but just part of North Vietnam's armies.

I prefer point one.

A couple of questions - why is the Viet Cong called "Communist Vietnam"? I mean, North Vietnam is Communist Vietnam just alike  Seems kinda silly to me. Also, something should meaby be done to the techs. I mean, they're straight from the vanilla, even the historical years are the same. Does it mean that each and every tech can and should be researched from the start, for it is '63 already and "Communist Vietnam" for instance doesn't even have the 45-model inf researched?

Anyways, as a whole, a well done mod! Really enjoyed my (rather easy) war as the South Vietnam. Even though the (Hard&Furious) AI never got even close of toppling my dictatorial regime :p

Vietcong is named Vietcong, Fixed! Download Vietnam5.zip again.

The game is made vanilla friendly so there are not alot of new techs. The models of the army are made relative to other nations level, the date of the model is not important here. Soldiers haven't improved much over the years, the equipment has.
