Is it EU 1 or EU 2? If you have EU 1, contact Strategy First, they have a patch for this. Look at the "Support options" thread, you'll find their e-mail adress there.
If you have EU 2 you should try using VPC 5.0 first, if possible.

ok, EU 2 and Securom (the copy protection used on the CD) will not work with VPC 4 or 5. There are unofficial patches available off the web, but once you have installed it, it will only work with EU 2 1.01 and not with the future patches. You will need to reinstall the game everytime you want to update it and then find a new unofficial patch.
However, I can't tell you where to find it as this is illegal (even when you legally own the software, in the US, such things are illegal).
Note that it can be possible that even with such a patch, EU 2 will not run with VPC 4 and you might require VPC 5.0. Judging by the config info another user posted about VPC 4.02, you should be ok, but I cannot guarantee it.
