Keeping Overview of what I have is rather difficult. Right now I adopted what everyone seems to use: Specialiced Stockpiles that enable me to see what I have in what quantities.
That will be ever more difficult the more I build, though, and does not keep me up to date well. Often enough I find myself run out of metal or water with the game only alerting me when it is almost too late.
I would prefer what most colony-builders do: A fixed list on the side of my screen, showing all the resources I have.
_
Somewhat samey: When building I often wish i could see which hexes are already occupied, where the in/out-hexes of producers and batteries are or where the influence of the previous dronehub ends. I often have to go back, cancel the build and click on the existing buildings so i can memorize these things.
_
Still somewhat samey: Id like to place markers on the maps - about that one resource patch that i want to go for next - or to plan the wirings and pipes of my next colony - where the next cross-section goes, etc.
Wires work for this fair enough - but you must not forget to disable the build. A dedicated tool would be nice
