Perhaps I'm merely ignorant...but I've been playing the game for two days now and still can't get any victory points.

I'm playing Russia, in the Grand Campaign. I accept and complete the missions assigned, I win wars, etc. But my victory points total remains at zero. I've started several new games now and all have done the same.

Whether i click on F6 or go view the ledger manually or surrender at the end, I -never- have any VP's no matter how much I've completed. For that matter, however, neither do -any- other countries.

Is this a bug or am I missing something? Help please!

The reason for this is actually quite simple: for some strange reason EU has victory points turned off by default.

At starting the game, click options and put victory points on.

I have a quick question about Victory Points. What's the point of them in a Single Game? Do they help you in any way? Or are they are just a scoring system? Because it doesn't seem the Computer really give crap about them. :)

The consensus seems to be that 'serious players' aren't interested in such things, therefore they are off by default!

Why the game defines success in the games in terms of who gets the most VPs (even when VPs are off) is a mystery - if they are switched off, no-one will ever get any.

For those who say that features such as VPs and player names are there only for multi-player use, I ask: why include them in single-player games (in a disabled state), where they just confuse everyone?
