I play with the 1.01 patch and recognized that something is wrong with the calculation of the military points. I play Japan (uncivilized) and it doenst matter how much units i build i dont get over 2 Military points. So iam unable to reach the nesecary 50 military points to get civilized (industry and prestige is high enough so iam still at rang 8 in the top 10 of nations).

I also tried to trade a lot of military techs and build navy ports but the military points wont raise above 2.

Do realize that base Victoria is now up to patch 1.4, and the Revolutions expansion pack is at 2.01.

You may wish to upgrade your version of the game if you are playing with Victoria 1.01

Well of course its 2.01 ;)

@Jdrou: You mean that i have to build 500 Manowar or 500 -in words FIFEHUNDRED- Infantrie division (nativ) to become "civilised" with Japan? If yes: How the hell should anyone reach this? 500 divisions would be 5000 Manpower or 250 if you "only" build ships. That would mean further if i would reach the 50 Miliary Points to get civilised i would have an army large enough to conquer the whole world! :) I think something is a bit ...wrong ;)

You need 25 mil to civilize in Revolutions so that would be:
1250 irregulars
or
250 infantry
or
250 manowar
or
167 cavalry or guards infantry
or
134 Cuirassier/Hussar cavalry
etc.
Japan will probably want a significant navy anyway so you should probably build quite a few ships. OTOH, the ships will quickly become obsolete whereas infantry will be useful to the end of the game. Keep your defense spending and army maint. maxed and promote more soldiers for manpower. Maybe get enough manpower to build half the army, then give it to someone as an expeditionary force; I believe that will increase your maximum manpower so you can build the other half. (When you take the EF back your manpower may become negative though; you may want to disband some of the army after you civilize.)

EDIT: the wiki has been corrected and updated for Revolutions; the score for cavalry attachments was wrong even for 1.04 so the actual number needed would be 125 instead of 134.

Well that sounds...very strange ;)
250 infantry is insane except you play Russia or GB or USA. You way with the expetition forces sounds ok (you "only" need 1250 MP to solve the problem) but...why the hell should a country first build an army to conquer the whole world to only become civilized? But i think thats not a "bug" its a them for a suggestion. I think 5 Military Points should be more then enough.

I think 5 or 10 is probably reasonable too. The only unciv country that 250 divisions is no problem to get would probably be China. The cause of the problem is that you can only build native-quality. If there were some stepping stone on the way to civilizing that would allow you to build colonial units maybe 25 mil would be OK.

Ehm sorry but I'm playing with Japan too, I got (don't know exactly how  ) more than 700 prestige points thanks to some cultural progress events and now I became suddenly a great power in 1861...a bug?

Looks to me like the Meiji Restoration happened. Good going!

Japan becomes civilized through a series of events, so there's no need to start building hundreds of native units.

btw!

...not about Japan, but still about military points.
When I've conquered Ottoman Empire during Crimean War as Russia (Crown the Tzar, etc), they become
1) my satellite
2) uncivilised nation
and they stop building anything, so everyone wants a piece of them...
is there any way to "get them back civilised"?

Only by the standard civilizing event (100 prestige, 75 industry, 25 military score); they will probably have trouble getting their prestige high enough after the defeat. Are they actually getting attacked? I would think your alliance would deter that. You could always lend them some expeditionary forces indefinitely. If they just keep returning the EFs, try lending a large corp while they are at war; they will probably split it up and the divisions will become permanently theirs.
