vs. 1.05c will not run?

Dear Moderators: I have downloaded vs. 105 and 105c onto a clean version of HOI. Game will not load. I crashes to desktop right after you select the scenario to use. Do I have to download vs. 101 et.al prior to downloading 105, etc. Please help. I have been playing this game since it was first released and miss not being able to do so.

Clean install, 1.05, then 1.05C is fine.
Try a reinstall, also rename the AVI folder to AVI_back.
Set color depth to 16 BIT.
 
Hmm, Try a fresh install.
Make sure you install 1.05 before you install 1.05C.
 
I'm having the same issue.

I have done the following.

1. Uninstall and delete the Strategy first Directory along with a registry hack.
2. Reinstall from CD original Hoi (Tried starting program and it works at this point)
3. install 1.05 patch (again program still works at this point.)
4. Install 1.05C and at this point the program works up until you choose single player. choose your country. The program seems to hand at this point but if you hit CTRL ESC to your desktop and then go back to the HOI program to get the error message to show up on top of the HOI splash screen.

Error states as follows. "Can't find the DB/EVENTS/103.txt file. IGNORE, ABORT or Retry.

Does not matter what option you choose the program crashes to desktop. That file does not exist within the directory structure after doing the 3 installs. I copied over the 103.txt file from my other computer and got the same thing as befor but for file 102.txt. Something has changed with your 1.05C patch.

I'm going down to copy the entire directy over from my other computer now but there is an issue with your download. P.S. would love to be a beta tester and signed up earlier this evening. User name AP5920703
 
More trouble shooting for you:

You are missing the
102.txt
103.txt
105.txt files from the events directory.

In addition the Randomevents.txt file is jacked too. I got an error about missing lines in that file after copying over the 3 missings I listed above. At that point I just copied over the entire events directory cause it was getting late. Sorry.

If anyone wants me to e-mail them a Zip file of the events directory I'll send it to you. just leave your e-mail address and I'll check for them tomorrow. I'm sure Paradox will have it corrected soon but this may be faster.

95% sure. I am getting it from the strategy first web site English side from the patches for HOI. downloading and installing 1.05 first and then 1.05c.

Kills it every time

I am up and running at this point but will still work with you if you wish.
 
I just think if it was a general problem then lots more people would be reporting it.
 
If it works after installing 1.05 but after installing 1.05c you get errors about missing files it sounds like 1.05c was not installed into the same directory as 1.05 and you are running from where 1.05c was installed. The 1.05c includes 101.txt but not 102.txt or 103.txt (since they weren't changed from 1.05).
 
I think you most likely found the problem, as I suspect and incorrect install.
