Disappearing paratroops

Hi
Not sure if this has been raised. I'm playing v1.06, core 0.81. I've noticed instances when I load a paratroop division aboard an air transport unit before saving the game. After I load the game, the transport is still there but the paratroop division has disappeared. Also, I've seen this happen DURING a game, i.e. the para division is there on say May 1, then when I check a few days later it has vanished! Using F6 and checking my military shows that I have ZERO paratroop divisions, which confirms that it has indeed vanished.

Anyone experience this magical phenomenon too?

Paratroopers on transport are out of supply for some reason. If left too long, they die of dehydration and starvation.

It takes about 100 days for a para to die while on an air transport. I tested this in http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=137773

The other danger for using this method would be if one had to substantially delay the paradrop mission or if one forgot about this odd situation while concentrating on other matters. A test of 'forgetting' had the paradrop die in 100 days while onboard the air transport (based in an owned province with a land connection to the capital). The strength loss was always one per day with the strength loss occuring at midnight. Two parachute divisions that had different org were used in the test (one was in battle and had been reinforced), but the strength loss was consistent despite the initial org difference.

I'm not sure that the para when loaded on air transports will be shown in the ledger.

I have not tested whether there is the saved game bug described above when the para are loaded on air transports when the game is saved.

This was all done in standard 1.06

a transport plane is surely not a place to live in... WAD

Finally i know what happened with my 9div of fallshirmsjäger :D By the way i think the game showed me Fort lappierne or something in N.Africa when my troops died but why, they where in Berlin.

Is there any way to unload paratroopers in a friendly province if the transport is not 100% organized? When I load troops, the transport's organization goes to zero. If I have to move the transports several times to avoid an advancing enemy, their organization is halved each time. Apparently the doors on the plane are sealed shut after they land in the new province because I can't get my starving troops out before they all keel over.

Maximilian I said:

although there was a bug which involved putting the para into the plane, saving game, reloading and then para was not there... was it fixed in 1.06..? I think it was still there in 1.04/5?

NO. Just plan things more carefully. I tested several things about para and air transports in
this paratroopers get eaten alive thread (last item in thread)

The air transports went from half org (15) after a rebasing to full org (30) after just 6 days. The fighter escort with them, however, only recovered to 49 out of 60 org and took about 9.5 days total to recover to full org. The organization percent gain per day for the air transports was about 8.33% while for the escort fighter it was about 5.27% per day. The air transport org recovery rate of 8.33% per day (basis is 100 percent) was confirmed after the paratroopers were dropped as the air transports went from zero org on March 8 to full org on March 20 (a twelve day period). Whether higher org air transports would require more org recovery time is unknown.

This is working as designed for sure, but it's designed stupidly. If you forget and leave your guys on the transports they should just get off on their own, with 0% org of course. I just found this out the hard way. WaD should never be an excuse not to fix something.
