the zealous firebrand strikes!

help, the zealous firebrand has struk my realm!

yes it a very cool event - but there are some things I want to report - just to be sure.

I choose the option - we hope it will be harmless and I got a revolt in Ypres - yo know the "fork and fire" symbol...it also seems my loyalty from the social classes was lowered. And due to rebellion I had virtually no income from the province...

1. So is this wad that I don't get rebels? I have the "rebellion" icon, but I don't get rebels?

Second observation, just after the zealous firebrand struk, I got "the revolt/rebellion spreads like wildfire". The pop up screen told me that Gent was infected. So I checked and this time I saw no rebels and no rebellion symbol in the province screen. My income from gent does'nt seem to be affected...

2. So I got the spread event but it didn't work out right.

p.s. personally I think observation is wad, but just checking. I guess observation 2 is a bit of a bug... :)

Anyhow = thumbs up for these cool events - congratulations guys! :)

You are right about 1 - it is a WAD. "Revolt" effect causes the loyalty of all four stands to drop, until they revolt on their own - then you get the revolters.

As to 2, I think it could be a bug, but not sure. Maybe the effect is not working properly.

ok, I have to say that there was already another symbol active in the province. YOu know only one symbol is displayed and new events are not shown,

so it could be that the event was listed in the modifier list, which i forgot to check!

perhaps somebody else can confirm if the spread event for rebellions is working yes or no :)

It is. It most definitely is. The issue you are facing seems to be the good old "only one province income affecting modification icon shown at a time".

The way the Firebrand/Wildfire duo works is this...

  1. The firebrand strikes. You choose a) because b) sounds (and is) very risky. 50% chance of being better than a) and 50% of being worse
  2. That province is now in revolt and the population has taken a hit to loyalty. So long as a province is in revolt, it loses loyalty each month.. When loyalty for any of the four population groups nears zero, the province is likely to spawn a revolting army.
  3. Revolts are often stopped in a year's time (the MTTH of the end-revolt event is 12 months)
  4. However, the Wildfire spread event is always looking for revolts to spread to all neighbouring provinces - preferably within the same realm. (You will only see few rebellions spreading between realms).
  5. The key to avoid having your realm engulfed in rebellion is simple: Keep your regiments demobilized. Demobilized regiments slows the spread of rebellion both away from infected provinces and into others. If you need to have some regiments mobilized to e.g. fight a war, you can try to set up firebreaks of demobilized regiments to contain the rebellion.
  6. If you have extremely low efficiency and a very high demesne the only thing that will save you is demobilizing enough regiments to contain the spread.

Edited by MrT: fixed a slight error that I'm 99.9% sure you didn't intend. Original version of item #5 said "keep your regiments mobilized".
Edited by Peter Ebbesen: That was a very qualified guess. 0.00001d awarded.

thanks guys! The event is working ok then,

I got him again last night! That firebrand guy is awesome! :D

know about a last small remark =

1. when you ignore the guy, does he live to try again later on? ;)

2. can't there be a modification to display more then one symbol in the province screen? That would be so cool,

Great. My first response to the revolt was to lower taxes so loyalty would build up again. Since nothing seems to be happening, I thought, Whew, no revolt. Then, after about a year or so, I clicked on the province to see if loyalty was coming back up again and it was even worse and then I noticed the revolt symbol. I didn't see any rebel soldiers, but I thought--maybe they've already captured the fort, so I mobilized the army to fight the rebels.

Somehow it seems rather counterintuitive to fight a revolt by not using the army. It would be nice if the manual would give some information about how rebellions work, but Paradox has this peculiar aversion to providing useful information about game mechanics.

You want to drop taxes, usually, in the affected provinces to help raise the loyalty of the various classes. If nothing else, drop the tax rate so that they dont lose any further loyalty; I just drop it, class by class, till they're all back in the 70-80 range. If the loyalty drops too far, you will get rebels.

The thing I dont understand is that in the province the rebellion spreads to, the loyalty of the classes does NOT drop.... so you have a province of 100% loyal across the board, healthy happy little citizens revolting ;) What's the logic there?
