Anti-Virus runs havoc with lots of programs.
Never touch those programs myself. Just surf safe. :)

Ouch.

Like to live dangerously, eh Castellon?

Anyway, I shut my AV program off before loading EU2. Its no big deal with Norton. Even with Norton running though, I don't notice any more crashes than usual. Can you shut your virus scanner off temporarily while you play? That'd be better than totally uninstalling it.

I run Norton (both AV and firewall) too and have no problems at all.:)

I have been on the internet since before there was a world wide web, and never had a virus. But I know lots of people with Virus protection that have had them. :p

This is more of a support issue, let's move it there.

its not that hard to avoid getting a virus. Don't download pirated softwere, don't download software off Kazaa or Morpheus, and stay away from naughty sites;) :D.

Surf with scripts, cookies, java, and java script, redirect .... All turned to off. ;)

Works fine on Norton.

Most will not have a problem.

I used to just "surf safe", then I got broadband. With broadband, I started getting viruses immediately. Now I run Black Ice firewall and Norton AV, and neither interferes with EU2. I used to get crashes, but changed the name of the AVI file. Now crashes are very rare, and most happen when I try to load a saved game.

I do have broadband. ;)

Me too.

One thing I did immediately (same with my dial-up btw.) was to organize a NAT enabled router. That way, I get the feature of connecting multiple PC's, and none of these PC's are connected directly to my public IP address. So, RPC viruses like MSBlaster have no chance of penetrating my system :D

Secondly, as a safeguard, I have installed ZoneAlarm as a second line of defense (mostly to monitor outgoing traffic on an executable/TCP port combination), so, should a malicious program ever enter my system, it will be stopped dead in it's tracks by ZoneAlarm.

I run no real-time virus scanners (these interfere too much with normal operation of the OS), and, like Castellon, have never had a virus on my system. I have been on the internet since the late '80s
