Hello guys.
Here I was playing with my favorite nation, the Qing Empire, and got into my first Great War ever. It was very exciting as I was planning to annex Indochina and the area around Lake Baikal, until one thing happened that ruined the entire game for me.
I was allied with the United Kingdom and was at war with Russia and France. As a westernized China, using mobilization I had massive armies that amounted for millions of soldiers, and I quickly overwhelmed the entire Asian part of the Russian Empire in a few months. I had occupied all of my war goals and won every battle, and even though my warscore continued very small (like five points at its height), I didn't care because I knew there was no way Russia was going to turn the tide on me. I could just occupy the entire country if needed in order to win.
However, this all changed the moment Russia sent one slightly bigger army toward me and defeated one of my armies in a battle. My warscore immediately dropped to -23, and I could see in the war graph that I had lost all those points due to battles. In other words, it was that one battle that cost me all those points.
I have no idea why this is so, but this was not the first time this happened. Before I started this Great War, I had been trying to take Lake Baikal from Russia many times before, but every time I tried to make war against them, I quickly saw my warscore sinking after I lost one or two minor battles. There was no way for me to recover my score by winning battles on my own or conquering territory, because the score I gained was simply much less than the score Russia would gain from winning battles against me. So I had the impossible task of conquering almost the entire Russian Empire without losing any battle, otherwise I would lose the war.
I know everybody talks about warscore in Victoria II being broken, but I had never seen or heard somebody mentioning this level of broken before in their game. This insanity must stop before I lose all interest in this game. Does anyone know why China loses so much warscore from losing battles, and why it takes forever for it to gain warscore through all means? And is there any way to fix at least part of the problem?
Thanks in advance.
