MY AAR of Austria hope you like it

January 1, 1936

Kurt Schluschnigg was killed this mornig while reurning form a new years party quite drunk. He parked on a rail road and yelled at a train for cutting himoff. The train er...well you can imagine the rest. The new Head of Austrian Government will be Seidita he is a strong leader who will not yield to the increasing tensions between Germany and Austria.
'No high ranking officials will now be allowed to drink and drive. Get a designated driver. Oh yeah Austria good Germany bad.

I'm gunna try to be more realistic than most earlier Austrian AAR going on annexing spree. I'm gunna stay with my territory that i begin with and resist German demands. It will probably end in annex but I think it will still be fun to see how long we can resist.
 
The Austrian situation looked bleak. Country looked much as it did in the sound of music. We must build a new Austria or at least threaten the Germans into backing off. For a while now the Germans have been increasingly agressive in there attempt at uniting us. This must not be allowed to happen. The first things that must happen is to fill those green rolling hills into hidden bunkers and those tall mountains into fortresses where behind every rock is a gun. The defensive fortification from Bregenz to Linz will be know as the Salzburg Line. Our second line line of defense will be the Donau River. Our last lline defense will center around the city of Vienna.
Our troops have began working on a new service rifle to replace the old one we have been using since WWI. We are also working on a new artillery gun and a new Elite unit doctrine we lack necessary resources for even a service rifle much less enough for a new Elite Unit Doctrine. Are the Austrian people ready for another war can they survive a war? We will soon find out.
 
April 1, 1938

Hitler called upon our great nation to succumb and unite into one nation. Seidita called out we will not unite with you Germany. We are ashamed of you Germany. Back in WWI you were our friends you used to be cool.
All Austrian reserves were called in they numbered three divisions. All of the troops were put on full alert and braced for the worst. We could see them parked at the border But they did not move. Their troops around our border numbered in at 315,000 with no air squads. Ours numbered in at 240,000 with two obsolete biplane squads.
After rejection of Angluschluss riots broke out in the city of Vienna led by Nazi pro-Anschluss people. The riots were extinguished but tensions still stayed high and it was guessed it would take many many months for this anger to end.
Even though Germany had not yet declared war we went over Grand strategy of the Austrian invasion. There were three possible scenerios.
First the Germans cut of Bregenz by taking Innsbruck then going for the lightly defended Klagenfurt and straight for Vienna.
Scenerio number two we could exacuate Bregenz back to other parts of the Salzburg line. But then they'd just take our land without a fight which would have a terrible impact on morale.
Third the was talk of Germany taking the Sudetenland from Czecholslovakia which would give the German a place to totaly flank austria and take the totally undefended and the only city not defended by mountains.
 
September 30,1938

Czechoslovakia surrendered the entire Sudetenland to Germany. We are now in an even weaker position.

March 15, 1939

Czechoslovakia ceases to exist and the new state of Slovokia is created and spreads fear througout all of Austria as it several days later invades poland with Germany.

12:00 April 24, 1939

Germany Declares war on Austria ude to Austria's spread of technology to probable future German adversaries. Other Governments have condemed these actioins but both London and Moscow refuse to grant us aid. We stand alone. Although ther is a bit of good news. Italy has not joined Germany in carving up Austria so we may almost rest assured that are flanks are safe. I just hope the Salzburg line can hold.

I wanted an invasion to write aboput but was a little dissapointed that they declared war on me so late. I was gunna join the allies after Polish invasion. I was even sharing tech with my future allies to help them out. Oh well i had a good run.
 
April 26, 1939

After two full days of debate with no sleep the Austrian Prime minitster got the Allies to join us in or war against the oppersers the axis. Our troops see constant bombardment but thanks to heavy fortifications and my focused resources on Artillery. Hopefully we can tye up enough divisions to allow England and France to break through.

April 30, 1939

After four days of street to street fighting we our reserves were overwhelmed by the Germans and Slovakians and were forced to retreat to Vienna. Scenerio number three the scenerio we were least prepared for. But even worse new Hungary has joined the Axis powers forcing us to be prepared to fight all borders minus Switzerland, Yugoslavia,and Italy.

May 5, 1939

Bulgaria enter military alliance with Germany.

May 6, 1939
President Seidita is declared Allied supreme commander an assumes command of Polish, French, English, and Dutch Forces(couldn't stand all that stupid fighting the allies do).

May 13, 1939

Italy joined the Axis. We are now tottaly surrounded but we have continued to fight the good fight. Hungary has entered the city of Graz and are attempting a take over. Our fortifications must hold back the axis hordes.

May 20, 1939

Austria's First victory since the wa began. Austria has thrown back a German air assault. Hopefully we can "thrown back'' the Germans.

May 25, 1939

Austria begins its first offensive operation is executed operation Hund Fleische. The Austrian Invasion of Szombathely in western Hungary. The operation is largely a success but we are soon flanked form the north be Slovakians. And a brutal battle rages.

June 14, 1939

Graz has fallen to Hungarian troops after a long and hard battle. Troops in North Africa have made significant progress stopping the Italians at El Almien and are beginning to drive to Tobruk from east as French do the same from the west. I have yet to make a French breakout in Europe and it is a deadlock.

I fear my only chance of survival is the French. Seeing as i can only hold out the Polish are barley hold on to what they have and the Britsh have no transports anywhere.
 
15:00 July 29, 1939

Bregenz has fallen after only three days of fighting we were fighting 13 divisions but i hoped our defenses would have held longer than that. France is gaining more ground in Italy and North Africa but the French High Command keeps halting the French forces every time they try to advance the germans.

August 3, 1939

Romania has joined the axis which is another nail in the coffin. Today we lost Linz and i have been forced to cut unit production in order to keep my troops supplied.

August 13, 1939

Vienna is under attack all forces have been called back from all over Austria to defend the capitol and me. The fighting is only 10 or 12 blocks away.

August 17, 1939

Poland has been annexed and there forces over 80 divisions centered on crushing the last of Austrian resistence.
 
August 25, 1939

We have succesfully thrown off another German assault and hope we can survive long enought to see the sun tommarow morning.

September 12, 1939

THe French forces in the south have conquered all of Northen Italy and liberated my city of Innsbruck. We are preparing to have the French Flank the Siegfried line.
 
December 2, 1939

France annexes Italy.

Christmas Day, 1939

German troops have broken through belgium and attacking northern France. The GErmans get a gift on Dec 25 France surrenders into Vichy France. Only remaining French resistence is Italy, North Africa and various islands.

Febuary 19, 1940

A battle that has gone on since May 25, 1939. With that our only territory left is Vienna.

Febuary 24, 1940

The axis declares war on Denmark and Norway. i had been given an (which were few) technologies to Denmark for when the axis came.

March 14, 1940

We have secured every axis VP on the continent of Africa. Now if we could just invade Southern France.

April 11, 1940

The Axis alliance declares war on the Soviet Union. The Soviets respond by a declaration of war on the baltic states. The Geramns counterby saying the will conquer, rule and exploit. It is doubtful the Soviets can stop the Germans they are ahead technologically and have more divisions.
 
1940

The Axis throws 45 divisions at Vienna while only 17 oppose them. The Germans are taking heavy casualties due to the rought terrain, the rivers, the leaders, the properly placed defenses, and the Austrian artillery brigades.

With death knocking at Austria's door the allies launch operation last gasp. The allies land in German controlled Amsterdam and Antwerp and begin the large mrch to Vienna. The French prepare three divisions to land at the port of Marseilles. Initially sucessful the allies meet stiff resistence and are cut off from some of the ports.

While still far from Vienna the Germans claim victory and the allies bow there heads in shame.(fabricated here on) The amazing amount of resistence put up by the Austrians sparked many others to join the allies bringing about the eventual defeat of Germany.The Austrians were hailed as heroes being compared to the Spartans at Thermopylea. After the war was over the Austrians were allowed to regain the old Austrian Empire returning Austria to a new height in power and politics.

Hope you enjoyed it. It was fun. Maybe next time eh. :D
 
You went down fighting, which is great. You killed as much Germans as was possible with your little nation. You should do AAR's with other minors. Maybe Czechslovakia? I've never seen an AAR on them, even though they have a lot of potential. Maybe take the balkans as a power base against the German onslaught?
