Okay, I'm playing Vanilla Vicky (v1.04) as Russia. It's the 1870s and I have a rather large empire that's almost continuous, but there are a few unconnected outposts (Cambodia, Bali, part of Denmark).

I mobilize my reserves and once they're ready I go to deploy them for an anticipated war against the British - but I can only deploy them to one of the two territories I control in Denmark. The rest of my territory is "off-limits" for deploying reserves, the way oversees colonies usually are. What can I do to deploy my reserves where I need them (India, mostly)? What's going on?

Is it possible that the reserve units in question come from that area?
If you look lower down the list, are there any units you can deploy elsewhere?

I think that a lowest province-number basis is used for calling them up. As France, I had 70 divs of reserves originate in Naples - not bad, as I was planning to sell it to Italy and taking the casulties there might not be so bad - but it does seem that each country has a place from where reserves will always come - USA it is always northern New England, Russia the provinces surrounding Moscow - France Lille (when Naples isn't available). I would like to see some more diversity in origin - France loses valuable iron workers, Russia much more marginal foresters. But yes, I do believe that province number plays a role in this. It also chooses laborers first, if number of soldiers is insufficient, and you may by this time have few laborers left in Mother Russia if you have done any mass industrialization.

Yes, actually. I guess I'm still a newb - I didn't realise that's how troops were deployed. My first half-dozen or so units had to be deployed to Denmark. The rest came from around Moscow and I failed to realise how the units were ordered in the ''deploy'' screen.

Thanks very much.
