I did a completely clean install of EU2, then installed the latest beta files. HOwever if i try and start a campaign, i get a message along the lines of "couldn't open file scenarios\1419\1419_str.inc".

THis file doesn't actually exist (in patches or original EU2), which explains why it can't find it, but not why it looks for it in the first place.

Can anyone help?

Did you install 1.07 before the beta? ;)

Castellon, his installation must be incomplete.

1419_str.inc is the file for Strassburg, and is even present in my very, very out of date 1.04 installation I have currently in front of me. IOW, it should be there.

Edit: Even though one should install the 1.07 patch before attempting the beta's, failing to do so shouldn't be the cause of missing this particular .inc file.

Cheers guys. Running the 1.07 patch seems to have restored that file, and a working EU2.

However, the reason I was re-installing in the first place was that playing as the Timurid (GC, 7febbeta), the game just kept crashing. I shall see if this is still the case.
