well my game is sick of loading

For some mysterious unforetold reason, my 1759 France GC game is something my wonderful EUII will no longer load. Well, it loads it for about a split second but then the hand cursor turns into my mouse cursor, and the game just shuts down and I'm back at my desktop. Pile of crap. Its happened to me plenty of times during games, but never during loading like this but now it looks as if my whole game was a total waste. What should I do??? Does everyone have this problem? It sucks!

If you edited the save game file (.eug), or monkeyed with any of the other files, you'll frequently get that problem (a result of forgetting some critical { }, or introducing leaders with shared ids, or some such). Sometimes the problem doens't manifest itself right away, to further confuse you.

Otherwise no specific ideas, sorry. I still practice safe EU, though; due to bad EU1 experiences, I tend to save fairly frequently...just go back to the last save if it craps out. Personally, I haven't needed to do that yet in EU2, though.

I use multiple saves for the same game. Could help, because the save files do become corrupted from time to time.

Well, thankfully one of these times by the Grace of God it did load. I quickly made several other save spaces. I never monkey around with the game files, never never never. I took the game as I got it. I noticed with the new patch all my save files then required me to chose a shield...very odd...I chose the ones corresponding to the nation it would have naturally loaded. Maybe that shield chosing abnormality had something to do with it? oh well
