After centuries of infighting, the Orcish tribes have united. The Black-Eye, Karun, rose from the ranks to become the undisputed leader of the Great Horde, crushing his enemies into submission. And his successes weren't limited to internal politics. After 15 years of war, he forced the Dwarvish and Human entity known as the Northern Alliance to acknowledge his power and the power of the Orcs by making peace.

But the treacherous humans could not accept treating the Orcs as their equals. While Karun was on his way to the Northern capital - the prosperous city of Dwarven Doors - to meet the Northern leader and sign the peace treaty, he was ambushed, and killed alongside his retinue.

Peace lasted for some time, because the Orcish unity didn't last very long after this. But ambitious humans earls, coveting the Orcish lands, have used some local Orcish raids as a pretense to invade Orcish territory and slaughter everyone living there, with the help of the cowardly elves. Their perfidious plan had almost succeeded, when Kapou'e son of the Black-Eye, having raised an army, thwarted it by smashing their assault on the Orcish capital and drowning the invaders who were disembarking in the port city of Tirigaz in their own blood.

After making all Orcish warlords bow before him, Kapou'e marched south, to the city of Prestim. There, a vast human host is preparing to cross the river, to once again bring war and desolation in the Orcish heartlands. They have to be stopped, and Kapou'e intends to hold the city and keep the human mongrels and their allies on the South side of the river.

However, Prestim is not the only crossing. Not far downstream, their is a small ford. It is too small to be crossed by an entire army and its equipment. It could, however, be used by a small party which would then harass the Orcish defenders on their side of the river, helping the main army cross the river from the South by making the defenders fight on two fronts.

Kapou'e needs his Orcs here, but can't let this peril endanger the whole battle. The war is at stake here. That's why he has tasked you, 17 of his most powerful warriors, to go hold the old, abandoned fortifications. You have to make sure nobody crosses, or if it can't be helped, then you are to fall back and warn him of the danger. Your mission is vital for the survival of Orc-kind.

Rules:

17 players will be taking part in this game. There can be no more than 17 players and sign ups will be closed once the number of players reaches 17. However, it is also possible to have the game start with less than 17 players should the GM deem it necessary - in this case arrangements will be made to accommodate the restricted number of players.

The game will start once the GM says so in the thread, and only then. The game will only be officially started once every player has received their role. Night 0 will fall on the first deadline after the game start, with a minimum of 24 hours before game start and Night 0.

The game will then proceed with a day/night cycle. During the day, players will vote to lynch one of them. The player with the most votes at deadline this day will be lynched. Should several players have the same number of votes, all will be lynched. Any vote posted at or after the time specified as deadline will not be counted.

The night deadline falls at the same time as the day deadline. Before the deadline, players whose roles can act during the night can contact the GM to tell him which action they wish to do that night. Any order given at or after the time specified as deadline will be ignored.

Possible roles:

Regular soldiers (Villagers) - x10

Most of the taskforce is made up of regular, loyal soldiers. They are loyal to Kapou'e, and will fight with him against the filthy humans. But as they are Orcs they are pretty single minded, and coming from the rank do not know Kapou'e personally.

Smug traitors (Werewolves) - x3

These 3 Orcs are loyal to Shan Taum, "the Smug". He was the Black-Eye's main rival, but was humiliated in battle and forced to recognize his nemesis's authority. And the same has happened with the son. Shan Taum can not accept that, and while he is clever enough not to openly rebel against a stronger opponent, he made it clear to you that he would like to see the humans take Prestim and inflict a crushing defeat on his rival. Some even say that no human arrows could be retrieved from the site of the ambush where the Black-Eye was killed, but that instead bolts of Orcish designs were found....

May design each night one villager who will die.

Orc with Shamanic powers (Seer) - x1

Nobody knows it, but this Orc has some shamanic powers he developed as a child. His abilities did not develop enough for him to become a regular shaman, and so he traded the staff for the sword. But his abilities are still there, and allow him to get a glimpse of people's thought. He is also a trusted veteran of Kapou'e's campain. And the night before the party left, Kapou'e invited him into his tent, explaining that for political reasons he had to include troops from every Warlord in the party, and that it is not impossible some of these Warlords would like to see him fail. He can't name anyone with absolute certainty, but tell him to keep his eyes open. He is to ensure the mission succeeds - Kapou'e trusts his ability to prevent any kind of sabotage.

May design each night one villager to know his role (Regular Soldier or Smug traitor).

Victory:

The Regular soldiers and Orc with Shamanic powers win once every Smug traitor is lynched, ensuring that the mission can proceed smoothly.

Smug traitors win once they are as numerous as Regular soldiers and Orc with Shamanic powers, at which point they overwhelm their enemies to gain victory, and contact the humans to let them know they can cross the river here.

Detailed rules:

Spoilered for convenience, but every player is encouraged to read them (especially newer players)
Section 1: Signing up and Subbing

1 - Players will sign up by posting "In" in this thread while sign ups are open. The "In" must be clearly visible, which is to say there shall be no other text on the same line and it will preferably be bolded and in size 4+. Any other type of signing up runs the risk of being ignored by the GM.

2 - Players who do not wish to play the game from the start may still sign up as a sub. For that, a player will follow the same guidelines as above, except posting "Sub" except of "In". The players who made themselves eligible for subbing in this manner will be listed by the GM. Any player signing up for subbing implicitly accepts that he is ready to sub any player at any point in the game should it be required. No confirmation will be asked by the GM to the sub. If you are not confident in your ability to subbing in the game, then don't make yourself available for subbing.

3 - Should a player who signed up or made himself available for subbing no longer want to play, he may contact the GM (either via PM or in the thread) to notify him of the situation. If the game has not started yet or the sub not been used yet, he will be taken out of the list of players/subs. If the game has started or the sub became a player, he will be subbed out immediately or autolynched at deadline should there be no subs available, with a minimum of 24 hours between the player being taken out and the autolynch to allow the GM to search for a sub.

4 - Players may sign ups as subs even once the game has started. There are two cases then, one for newer players and one for former players who were killed during the game and wish to come back in the game:

a. Newer players may make themselves for subbing by posting "Sub" in the thread, following the guidelines detailed in 1 and 2.

b. Former players may become subs if they died during Night 2 or before. Players dying after Night 2 will never be eligible for subbing. Additionally, any player who has insight information a newer player can not have (such as a former Werewolf or a Seer having scanned players) will not be eligible for subbing. To register for subbing, a former player meeting the conditions for subbing will have to contact the GM via PM and tell him he wishes to be a sub by using the term "Sub".

5 - People who made themselves available for subbing before the game starts will be listed. Said list will be refreshed by the GM and will be available at any point in the game. However, any player signing up as a sub once the game has started will not be listed publicly. The GM however will keep track of available subs privately.

Section 2: The game

1 - Once the game has started, only living players may post using the default post colors (white). Any other person wishing to reply to the thread, be it the GM, a dead player, a sub or a simple spectator, will have to post in another color.

2 - Roles will be handed out by PM by the GM to the players. If you have a question about your role, ask the GM by PM, not in the thread. Additionally, while discussing roles in the thread is not forbidden, you are not allowed to post concrete proofs of you role (such as a screenshot of the role PM you received) in the thread or to other players via PM. Anyone who does so will be immediately autolynched. You are also not allowed to directly quote the GM's PM role, nor any other PM from the GM containing in game information (such as a scan result), be it in either the thread or via PMs to other players.

3 - There will be 24 hours for voting. Voting is done by posting "VOTE" + [Name of the player who is being voted]. It is required that the vote be the only text present on a line. Should the vote be inside a line of text, it will not be counted. On top of that, it is recommended to bold your vote and post them in size 4+. Votes must target a living player. Any other type of vote will be discounted and the player will be considered as not being voting.

4 - Should a player wish to cancel his vote, he will post "UNVOTE" + [Name of the player he was formerly voting for]. The same guidelines as for voting (see above) apply. The player will then be voting nobody, and so will be able to vote someone else.

5 - Any vote made while the voting player is already voting someone else will be discounted. The incident will be reported in future votecounts for the day.

6 - Should a player not be voting at deadline (either by not voting at all during the day or by unvoting then not voting), he will be eligible for subbing. If there are no subs available, the missed vote will be remembered by the GM. Should the player in question miss a second vote, and no sub be available at the time of the second missed vote, the player will be immediately autolynched.

7 - Night orders will be given to the GM using PMs. Any order given after the deadline will be discounted. The last given order is the one which will be used. Should the order not be applicable, it will not be executed at all. It is however possible to preemptively define back up orders to avoid not doing anything in case the primary order is not applicable.

8 - Votecounts will be provided by the GM throughout the day. Other players may post votecounts, but only the GM's votecounts are considered officials.

9 - At the end of the day and shortly after deadline, an official votecount for the day will be posted. Players will then have 15 minutes to voice any complaints they might have with the votecount (such as votes missed by the GM or irregularities skipped by the GM). The votecount will become official 15 minutes after being posted and will no longer be subject to change, even if the votecount may be wrong in regards to the rules described here.

10 - Non living players (ghosts, spectators, subs having not subbed in yet, etc...) may post in the thread (see the restriction on color in Section 2 ยง1). They may not, however, reveal any inside information to players or advise them in any way.

Section 3: Death

1 - The player with the most votes at deadline is lynched. Should several players be tied with the most votes, all are lynched. The lynch takes place immediately: the lynched player(s) is (are) considered dead at deadline.

2 - The player hunted by the wolves during the night is considered dead once the night update is online. Therefore, any player hunted during the night is still considered alive for gameplay purposes between the deadline for the day and the nightly update.

3 - During the night, the wolves hunt last, and the Seer scans first. Should the Seer scan the player hunted by the Wolves, he will not gain any scan result. No back up order may prevent the scan from being lost in this case.

Section 4: Endgame

1 - The game ends once all of the Werewolves are dead - resulting in a Village victory - or once the Werewolves and allies are as numerous as the Village and allies - resulting in a Werewolf victory.

2 - The game will end after the final update, after which any restriction about posting is lifted (forum rules are not, however).

Special note:

The color used in this post is the GM's color. Nobody else in this thread may use it, whatever the reason might be.

DEADLINE IS 20:00 GMT
Convert to your own timezone !
Reminder: votes/order posted AT or AFTER the time specified as deadline will NOT be counted (ie a vote posted at 20:00 GMT will not be counted, but a vote at 19:59 GMT will)

I am however open to changing the deadline should players require it, but signal it before the start of the game.

Deadline will not be subject to changes once the game has started

How so ? Deadline is 20:00 GMT time, or 8pm GMT time, and can be modified if the players require it BEFORE THE GAME STARTS (deadline will not be modified once game has started)

From my own perspective it seems clear enough ?

EDIT: perhaps I should insist on the fact that the deadline is specified in GMT and players should convert it to their own timezone

Seems you might not know what I mean. Because what you've written isn't clear, but ambigious.
What I mean is that you're said when deadline is, but not whether a post at :00 is accepted or not. We have two deadline types. One where votes sent at :59 counts, but votes sent at :00 don't. And then there's the Swedish deadline where votes sent at :00 count, but votes sent at :01 don't.

Both are equally valid, hence why the GM needs to specify which is used.

Here's how you I did it in my lite, if you want an example.
Deadlines for votes are given by 21:00 GMT – one hour before the forum reboot. (PLEASE CONVERT THIS TO YOUR OWN TIME ZONE IMMEDIATELY TO AVOID FUTURE CONFUSION). A vote at 20:59 will count, whereas a vote at 21:00 will not.

It is specified in the rules section (not the spoilered detailed rules, the section after the lore and before the roles), but I'll remind it in the deadline section for people not bothered with reading the rules :p

Oh. I skimmed for :59 and :00, as that's what always is used. You might want to write it using those terms. Also to make it 100% clear.

Reminder: votes/order posted AT or AFTER the time specified as deadline will NOT be counted
