Is there already a Mod for Rome which let's you play from the times of Constantine through the decline of the Byzantine empire?

Are there any mods which make Rome better? And any with events? (I miss those from EU2......)

No. No event MODs.

Rome Enhance and SPQR defiantly improve gameplay (Unsure with 1.3 compatibility)

Also, the Map Imrovement Project is very good aswell, again unsure 1.3 compatibilty, or if hey work with either RE or SPQR

wouldnt be that hard to acomplish, the advantage over modding a game like RTW or M2TW is that u dont have any serious graphics issues, only thing u have to worry about is like unit shields, family names, etc etc etc. only thing ive yet to figure out is how to edit the actual start files, i can edit save files fine, but ye cant find the start files that setup the map for a new game.

Cheers Knoddy

I guess a lot of things have changed since I did EU1/2 and vicky modding....

So, I played on a bit and are now in 540 AVC. Three Punic wars are behind me by now. All of them have been major afairs. The first mainly taking place at sea and in Africa. The war ended when I invaded their (3 prov) Spanish possesions and demanded one of those provinces when my armies where all but exhausted.

The second war (they dow-ed) saw me fight them in spain where I wasn't able to break a 30 unit Carthage army even though I threw 45 units at it. Still in the end I gained their province of Helvetii (what where they doing there).

The third punic war (535) saw me a little action in spain where I easily swept away their troops. The main action was fought in Gaul where they had taken over all of northern Gaul ( ) unable to break their forces here, at the peak moment I had 75 units fighting just to the north of the Alps I send two smaller armies into Africa and saw some good action in the maroccan part of africa. In the end this third war netted me two more Spanish provinces + the western Sicilian province and the province next to Helvetii from Carthages ally.

In between the 2nd and the 3rd Punic wars I took over the three Spanish kingdoms. I am now working on colonizing all of Spain but it is going slow as hell (how to speed this up?).
Then, is the composition of my armies right? I use 75% principes and 25% archers. No militia thus. And I don't have any regular cavalry, how to get those and what other units are there?

Then about what I think of Rome: First of all it looked a bit to simplistic for me. Not enough things to really manage, too few sliders and such. But getting into it these things didn't bother me so much (but an option for auto-trade and auto-governer would be nice). The thing which really bothered me was the lack of events. No historic events to guide you, or at least the other nations along a somewhat historic guideline. I don't know much about Roman history and will never learn anything about it from this game. That was one of the great things about Eu, learning history while playing a great game. This is a serious drawback and I miss it very, very much. So much I don't think I will buy any new Paradox game without events.
