This is a forum I'm creating to discuss various elements (later including play testing) of this demo scenario I'm making for my larger mod.
NOTE: This particular scenario is an alternate history element, and will be one of the possible consequences of the decision of the human and/or AI players in the grand campaign. In this specific instance, America will have self-balkanized as a reaction to the great depression, which will serve as a catalyst of numerous changes in the grand campaign.
The basic set up for the scenario is this; The year is 1936. For the past 4 years, the various nations of western North America have enjoyed an uneasy peace after the second American civil war. During this time, the various nations have sought their own forms of rule, and done their best to re-establish their economies. Currently, the dominant powers in the west are Cascadia and California; outside of a few minor clashes and various disagreements on their mutual border, the two have co-existed relatively peacefully.
To the east lays the expansive but largely barren Deseret, a restrictive theocracy surrounded by various enemies (both real and imagined). Deseret sees the powers to the west as the principal threat to its continued existence, and therefore the January Plan is set in motion. The plan is daring, risky, and threatens to destabilize the entire west coast if successful.
New Years night, Deseret militias in Cascadian uniforms cross into California, launching a series of attacks that sends a spasm of fear and panic through California. Reacting quickly, the Californian government declares war on Cascadia the next day, in spite of Cascadian protests. The situation deteriorates, and soon war breaks out, with both nations calling their (relatively) impressive Pacific fleets back to the mainland to protect their expansive coasts; inland, the army and air reserves prepare to fight a potentially devastating war.
Watching eagerly are Deseret and the Soviet Union (which has joined the USSR as a result of being unable to exist on it's own) While the intents of the Soviets are not apparent, they have long hinted at diplomatic interest with both parties. Deseret eagerly eyes the rapidly thinning border defenses hungrily. Whatever the case may be, it is apparent California and Cascadia are about to have far bigger concerns.
The map, as it exists now.

At this point, there are complete tech teams for all powers involved, though I don't believe I will use production, research or diplomacy in this scenario.
Please provide any comments or criticisms.
