Looks amazing.

EDIT: You can merge the Caspian Sea provinces from 6 to 1.

Indeed, they were the first ones I used.

I can't help you with the boundaries and so on, but this looks really good.

Have you already checked this thread

British Isles Map Mod

I have, it was Kurek's work that was the main inspiration for me to try and rework England and Scotland.

I've added some provinces 2 to Wales, 3 to Scotland and 5 to England so far. Here's how the map looks now (in DVIP).

England and Wales:

Scotland:

Looks great to me

You might want to remove the 'anchors' though, since they serve no purpose in the game and it makes the map look better and cleaner.

You can remove them by replacing C:....\Crusader kings\gfx\map\harbour.bmp with a complete green harbour.bmp

Good idea, done.

Looking Good :)

Cheers. :)

Update: I've adjusted the CoAs and the province incomes for England (making sure to keep England's overall income the same), now I need to sort out the borders and incomes for Scotland and Wales.

No borders between counties, duchies in the same kingdom?

No borders between counties, duchies in the same kingdom?

Sorry to be a bit OT, but how much does this matter when playing the game? I am just asking because I am thinking of just dumping the red borders and only have the provincial borders on the map and then the colors.

I always think they make the map easier to read, myself.

There will be, it's just something I haven't got round to doing yet.

I suppose they just make the internal situation of a kingdom clearer at a glance.

Update: After a deeply frustrating couple of hours when the map refused to load, things are back on track after a complete reinstallation of the game.

Good news. :)

This is fantastic! Have you thought about extending your effort to Central Europe? Germany/Bohemia/Prussia is really messed up, much more so than the Isles... :)

it's amazing; i can't know how to do it, can you explain e in mp:
it would be great to improve number of provinces to make the game funnier, now i'm working with a bit event mod to illegittimate or legittimate sons;
but i've done a little mod of kingdoms, if u wanna i can give u the link of the forum (it's an italian one!)

I like what you did for England and Scotland, but I prefer Kurek's Wales map to be honest. Firstly, the island of Ynys Mon is represented, and Ystrad Tywi (the Little and Greater Cantrevs) are seperated from Dyfed/Pembroke. Also, Maelienydd is seperated from Powys.

Prehaps there may be a way to merge the two?

Why don't you give the whole map an overhaul. :D I think I forgot to say nice job ! ;)

The art of map making is an art that, when mastered, can give happiness to the people.

The thing is I'm quite well up on British medieval geography and history, not so much when it comes to Europe. If some people would be willing to assist with research, then maybe..;)

It's too much information to PM, I think I might start a thread explaining the process. It would be good if all the basic info about the ins and outs of map editing was collected in one place.

You should post the mod on the forum, that way plenty of people will see it.

My original intention was to basically copy Kurek's Wales set up, but as I was also adding provinces to Scotland and England, only 2 were able to make their way to Wales due to the limited number of available new provinces. I'm thinking of merging Iceland to free up a province, which would most likely go to Wales.

This is how I first drew the map:

I've reached the point where there are very few provinces available, so it's a matter of doing the best with an 8 or 9 province Wales.
