Flanders, Sicily, Brittany, Holstein are commonly cited. Baghdad and Cairo are good but inland so cities and tech aren't as good in the long run.

Brittany and Brugge are far too north.
I think the ideal choice is sicily/latium or thrace

Ragusa + Dalmatia or Duklja is also a good choice. Both combinations are fitting for a smaller base demesne which allows you to hold on occasional extra county somewhere else.
