Trying to to find mods that will get me close to the crusader kings experience where empires shrink and grow, power blocs break up and you can bounce back if your empire gets broken up by civil wars. Been experimenting with mods like divided loyalties but so far everything feels random and arbitrary and theres nothing to stop the gestalt empire next door from snowballing. Anyone know anything that works with 3.4? ive been googling but most of what im finding is several years old and created for pre-3.0

I'm also interested in this. All mods I've found so far seem to have been broken by the last updates (Overlord and situations).
Can you talk more about which ones you've tried? From previous periods modding I have a good three or four mods favourited and have been totally unclear which ones are valid anymore myself. Did you personally try any?

Dynamic political events seems to get me part of the way there, and I'm experimenting with various diplomatic mods but so far everything still feels really gamey. Cant really think of anything worth doing besides painting the map (there's no mod that I know of that adds any kind of hook/leverage system, just beeline supremacy and spam corvettes until you're a major power) or rushing tech to get megastructures and the only empire I can get emotionally invested in is the commonwealth of man.

The only interesting scenario I've encountered is conquering the UN and having to reform my government to accommodate the new factions. I wish there was more of that and that it was more involved than "spend paper mana, receive democracy"
