I was trying to envision a true expansion to Warlock and I'm just not seeing it happen since adding more building and units for each of the races would e so much work. So I was thinking what are the games existing systems and how can we expand on them.
1) Random spawn system - this is the mechanic that brings the phallis-aliens with knife hands and the ogre huts everyone loves
2) The quest system. We get building quests, kill the spawned monster quests, and capture city quests
3) Treasure den system - we have map locations that give resources, heroes, and spells. They also spawn monsters
4) Merchant event system - a merchant or hero offers services or items in trade for gold
5) Spell system - where land, units and items can be changed, created, destroyed.
6) Religion - which provides unique building, units, spells and diplomacy conflicts
I think thats it..am I missing any..what can we do with these with an eye towards small dlc updates?
