I suspect I know the answer, but I wanted to ask anyway...

Scenario - I've got mutliple armies in a provinces. All have leaders, but one is a really good leader. (his army is NOT the largest) I 'Merge' them, expecting the best leader to filter to the top. I was unhappily suprised to find that my good leader was now missing...

What is the determining factor for choosing a leader of a merged army - I suspect its size but wonder why it wouldn't be leadership skill.

If I'm wrong - where did he go??

If I'm right - do I really need to 'reorganize' instead of 'merging?

if you have two leaders and you merge them, then next to the leader's name you'll see an orange arrow, just click it to choose your other leader. Don't worry you still have your leader.

Now, if you want to disassociate them, you'll need to split your army (not reorganize, split). Then you can do some fancy reorganizaing and send your other leader with perhaps 1000 inf or 1000 cav to lead another army somewhere else.

hope this helps.

The highest ranking leader get command of merged units. He may not be the best one , but he outranks..so he commands. You can toggle between leaders if there is more than one in a unit. I am not sure on how to seperate them so you can use both seperately.I do remeber a thread being started about this , but didn't read it (*kicking myself*)Canm anone else tell him (me too) how to seperate leaders.

Thanks

As I understand it, the leader with the highest/higher rank takes command. This applies both in a merged force and in a battle involving independent forces (since you can benefit from only one leader at a time). I do not know which factors determine the ranking leader when you join forces led by leaders of the same rank in a battle. (I've been too busy when this happens to notice.) My impression is that when you merge (reorganize) forces led leaders of the equal rank, you select the new leader when you merge the other force(s) into that leader's force (the one at the top of the window). If I'm wrong about this I'm sure some kind soul will tactfully point out my error.
