What is Bink error?

Whenever I try and run EU2 I get a strange error at the very begginning, before the intro video. It sais Bink error, could not find/run video. Then gives me an illegal error and I have to exit the game. Does anybody have any idea what this is?

Bink Player is the video player used in EU2. It crashes upon loading for some system (mainly XP system).

16. For EU 2: If it still doesn't run, try the following:

1. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL and select binkplayer.exe then click end process.
2. If binkplayer doesn't appear, rename the AVI folder under your Europa Universalis 2 directory to AVI_Backup (or any other name)
