Hi, I played this mod a long time ago (roughly about the time of legacy of Rome) and never got into it. This was probably due to my start choices more then anything. But after reading release the kraken in the aars forum I've decided to give the mod another go so in your opinion which is the; most interesting start date and which is the most fleshed out - events and characters etc. Also any recomendations for interesting characters. Thanks in advance :)

My favorite is actually the Bleeding Years. I like to think of the mod is a way to change the history of Westeros rather than replay it. What better place to start than the bleeding years?

If you're looking for events htough I would say the Aegon the Conqueror in his start date. It has a lot of events and you don't have to go with Westeros, you can invade Essos instead. That way you geta decently strong house to play as, have a ton of events, and just cruise on by. Also those conquest events cause continuous warfare until you decide to stop or lose one of the wars. That means your first few hours of gameplay will keep your interest more, as there is no time to do a slow build up.

You could try Petyr Baelish in AFFC. He has a couple of events (rebuilding Harrnehal, gaining the Riverlands, choosing who will be married to Sansa etc.) and you can gain the Iron Throne without fighting a single war (just kill a couple Lannisters and Great Council should choose you).

I usually start as a count of some interesting looking dynasty and the War of Conquest scenario is perfect for that (when Aegon takes Westeros) since you're usually the first family member so you won't have to look at all your ancestors who did nothing for the dynasty and it's a more lore friendly world to have the Iron Throne and the Targaryens in power and makes it more interesting than the Bleeding Years scenario.

Robert's Rebellion is nice when you grow tired of the Targaryens and many interesting things can happen in that scenario and it's also the most balanced since it was the first scenario created.

A Feast for Crows got the most interesting characters you can play from the show and alot of interesting things can happen there aswell.

1. War of Conquest
2. Robert's Rebellion
3. A Feast for Crows.

It depends on what I'm trying to have fun with.
1. Canon AU? Robb in CoK
2. Fun divergence? Blackfyres in War of the Ninepenny Kings or Dance of Dragons as Rheanyra's group.
3. Empire creation? Restore Valyria Mod + Custom Blackfyre scion in the 4th Blackfyre Rebellion start and make yourself the current pretender's brother.
4. Build it up in Westeros? Custom Durrandon son in Bleeding Years.
5. MESS STUFF UUUPPP? Custom Hoare heir in the Crowned Dragon start in the Stepstones trying to regain the Seastone Chair.

I quite like playing just after Aegon's conquest, which unfortunately isn't a start date but should be.

I like COK and FFC, both scenarios are really hectic and things can go off the rails really quickly, which makes for great games.
