After going through most of the popular mods for HoI2/AoD/DH I conclude that most of the
text files are developed by a simple text editor (i.e. notepad++) and windows explorer for
file management. In my opinion this is a rather ineffective way as you lose control over your files
very fast when developing in a team. Most of the mods even have their description texts directly
in the event files so translating them into other languages is impossible without rewriting them.

As a goal of this thread I'd like to know how you organize and develop your mods.

What tools do you use?
How do you manage your files?
Do you use versioning systems or text processing tools?
Do you delevop in a team? If yes: how do you organize it?
Do you use coding conventions?
