What should I do in this MP game?...

I am involved in an MP game with two friends with whom I see on a regular basis, in RL. In Age of Exploration, one of em is Portugal with a pretty good empire. The other one is Spain and is new to the game. I am England, so who should I side with in war? Portugal might have a chance of winning, but then again, Spain has a better chance. Though, newbieism might be a factor. Anyways, as I said, who should I side with?

PORTUGAL. Never, ever, under any circumstances let a Spain beat up Portugal, simply because they will grow too strong economically. Plus Spain probly has more high income colonies they can send you for a peace deal.

Either one, but I would choose Portugal. The thing is though, if you side with Spain then you can conquer the colonial possessions of the Portugese player.

I also would say Stay Neutral, when it appears that one is losing and not offering perdy peace deals, then throw in your hand. Just what i would do, especially if you see them in RL. As the newb might say "you two vets just beat on me cuz im new, im never playing again....etc." yea any who thats what i would do.
