Hi all!

I have just started playing HOI on valkyrienet. I have noticed that the savefile is transferred from the host to the client on startup. Is there anyway to skip that by having the game saved on the clients side too? (pausing and saving the game on both sides before quiting). If so, does the client need to use the same name for the file as the host?

The reason for asking is that I have seen on the forum that the client does not get any exp. for his leaders during gameplay, but that the exp. points are logged in the clients savefile. However, the exp. points for the clients leaders does not show when the game is reloaded and I figure that this is because the client uses the savefile he received from the host and not his own file. Is this correct? If so, how do we get the client to get his exp points on reload?

thanks!

Leader experience is saved in the host's file but not updated to the clients during play. The clients will see the true experience levels/skill gains when you reload with the host's savegame.

But I guess you could still speed up the process by zipping the hosts save and mailing it to the client (assuming your mailservice isn't too slow). The time saver is there because the save can be compressed enourmously (like 90%). So eventhough it's a bit more work, it may do.
