We're two months ahead on Gamescom and... well, it's not a wild guess that an important announcement will be made. Last year it was EUIV... what could we expect now?

As far as we know there are four development teams in PDS. The one responsible of CKII, which is developing all their patches and content-DLCs. No surprises here... Perhaps they will reveal the next expansion after The Old Gods? I hope so.

Other team was the one working in EUIV. Knowing the new updates and expansions policy, I think they'll be tied to this game for a long time, just the same the team working on CKII. So... with the recent release of EUIV (Gamescom is just a week after it), I don't expect new announcements from this team.

The third team has been working since the release of March of the Eagles in... what? Another 'short' PDS game? A revamped Rome? We will know in August, I think.

The fourth team (the responsible of expansions, the last one's been the impressive Victoria's Heart of Darkess) might also been working in something new. A new expansion for HoI3, or even Victoria2? Something new?

If I had to say, my bet would be:

1) A big new project. I'd go for a revamped Rome game. After CKII, and the impressions from EUIV, it could be awesome what they should build. Hopefully a big new franchise.
2) New (and final) expansion for Hearts of Iron III. HoI4 would be 2015 PDS game.
3) New expansion for CKII, after The Old Gods, the first of the new cycle for the game.

What do you think?

No doubt they'll focus on building some great media buzz around EUIV. CKII will probably also get some facetime with a new DLC being announced. East vs. West will be put in the spotlight. I heard there were some difficulties with development. If those are solved, this would be the ideal time to restart the marketing campaign.

This is all the very predictable stuff though. What could the other stuff be? I wonder if HoI3 will be getting a new expansion. Haven't followed the game in a while, but with it being a launch disaster I can't imagine it having such a huge audience that it can get more than three expansions. Maybe I'm wrong. If there is an expansion, it's not going to be accompanied with news of HoI4. That'd be far too: 'Buy this, which will be completely outdated in a year.' V2 probably won't get an expansion announced either. That's just too soon after HoD.

Rome II is both the most and least likely. That era has a huge attraction to people (see Rome: Total War, Caesar and all those other Roman games) and combined with the advances made in character-based gameplay with CKII it could be quite the hit. On the other hand, its title is eerily similar to Total War: Rome II. The latter is much bigger and the last time PDS tried to develop a game taking place in the same period (Shogun 2 vs. Sengoku) they lost big time. Total War is ramping up its marketing and in two months that campaign will be at its climax. To then announce another game called Rome II doesn't sound smart at all.

The only other option is a completely new game. With the Old Gods moving the covered timeline into the Dark Ages and East vs. West covering the Cold War, there aren't many periods left to cover. Honestly I have no idea what to expect for a new project.

I was under impression that SUPERSECRET (the new major title) won't be revealed before christmas.

No confirmations allow speculations XD

I don't hink it would be smart for paradox to distract from EUIV with another comming game. So i doubt they will announce anithing.

Some new game details for EUIV i think. Didn't see much about the colonization and emerging of new Country's.
And well showcasing the DLC's Old gods and HoD.

I'm still baffled that they started the hype up engine for EUIV so soon already. But than again this titel needs all the exposure and time to reach new audiences it can get.

I'd like a Rome II to come out eventually, but I agree with prior comments about it being a bad time to start up that with TW coming out. But Paradox is full of secrets, like a certain "Thursday 20th of June - Something :)" on their twitchtv channel, and I'm perfectly happy at the usual rate they reveal them.

A WW1 game. But they'll never really do this.
