Remember that answer, but overall I hoped for some kind of sneak peek. I guess they'll try a sort of overhaul of many mechanics, something like a VIC 3 2.0, that's why they are implementing these surveys.
I'll stop the "2.0" speculation here, the surveys were done so we can see the community mood on those mechanics/features more directly, rather than through our normal means of looking through social platforms/analyzing how people play/gathering feedback (i.e. a lot of what we do in the community team), to confirm/disprove what we think people think about the subject and gather information for the future when we can get around to certain areas. This is the best time for this as we have a bit more time on the Community Team side thanks to not doing dev diaries for example.

Otherwise, we are going to be talking to you in Dev Diaries again reasonably soon and it should be pretty cool! As for game updates, we are focusing on the 1.9 update over more hotfixes - which may mean fixes go towards that over a separate branch. (For the coop bug specifically we have the fix targeted to use the privatize button as said in the linked post)

The problem isnt new information about 1.9, the problem is the crazy bugs which exist in the game and makes it borderline unplayable (stopped playing) and refusing to address them in a patch.
Just to mention a few:
  1. Privatization is broken when a resource is maxed out.
  2. Coop Ownership has been broken since 1.8 due to nationally owned levels
  3. Various wrong defines making the game do many wrong decisions.
For number 3, can you let me know which defines you're thinking of, so we can cross check our list for 1.9? If you have a link to another post on that note, I'm also happy to look at that.

I had to stop playing because of constant crashes to desktop when I zoom in. It started with the latest update of Vic. This is a brand new computer, with all drivers updated =/. But the devs said somewhere they aren't concerned about this, so maybe I'm unlucky?

Also, I thought "coop" is where one grows chickens and the like...
Do you by any chance have Windows 11 and update 24h2 installed? This may be the cause, so downgrading to a previous windows update can help.

As for Coop, it's a wonder of the English language one is said as "Koop" the other as "co op". Same problem with day pencil lead and how one leads, or the computer lead. All the written the same way but pronounced differently.

There is this Bug Report
Looks like we've fixed most of those on our end and the remaining ones are reported and merely waiting to be picked up when there's time.
So with 1.9 the fixes should all be there hopefully.

I very much love to hear this but I do feel a little bit disappointed at the same time that we probably have to wait months for these fixes as it seems that you guys wont be releasing a new patch but will release only 1.9 which will contain these fixes. I mean these arent minor bugs but major issues which have been in the game since 1.8 came out and were never fixed. So now we have to wait for 1.9 for another major version? This is a bit weird.
I agree, some of those are major, but certainly not all of them.
That put aside, it's always a question where you draw the line for where you want to spend the limited time you have available.
Any update we put out costs us a fair amount of overhead time spent on it, for example to verify fixes, backend setup, creating a changelog, posting updates, ensuring release goes well etc. etc.
So all time we spend on releasing a hotfix will take away from the next release in some shape.
Here we also have a decent amount of issues related to trade which is undergoing substantial enough changes that a lot of this will need to be revisited anyway. So we'd put out a hotfix for something that is going to be irrelevant a few months down the road.
Hope this makes it a bit more understandable.

Will we get a timeline of the next dev diaries until release, like we did with SoI? Or is this a company secret?
I'll bring it up with Pelly to see if we want to commit to a schedule.
It's unlikely we'll make big changes to it, but it's always good to have the option to shuffle things around :)
And maybe separately: doesn't this release date conflict with the usual Summer holidays in Sweden? We can't force you guys to stay inside fixing bugs during the only sunlight you'll get all year.
We have made arrangements to ensure we have proper post-release support for the update. It's not so bad as we still have the last June weeks where the most work will undoubtedly happen.

In general, it's not like every single person here is off for the whole duration of July. But it's a large enough percentage of people where vacation overlaps for some time that you don't want to rely on many complex things getting done.
On the other hand, it gives people like me who don't enjoy long vacations the opportunity to clean up documentation, prepare design documents for the upcoming features and so on.
