Currently, the GOG Client has not pushed two game updates for Surviving Mars. v227,923 and v228,003 have not been made available.

Are there any plans at this point to A) Push these updates to the GOG Client or B) Make external patches available? I would fully expect that if publisher and development teams make the decision to release their game for purchase on a specific platform, that that platform should receive the same support as any other...especially considering there is no change in cost from an end-user perspective.

The problem is on GOG's side. They are responsible for pushing the patches to the clients and being a separate company, Paradox and Haemimont Games only have so much control over what can be done.

From what I know, they have given the patches to GOG and it is the way GOG deals with patches that has created the delay.

According to someone on the GOG surviving mars forum, the fault lies with Paradox for using the 'old' method of patching, and that there is a new method, presumably equivalent to Steam's. Here is the post:

Um, GOG has a immediate patching system via Galaxy. If the devs have not uploaded the patches to Galaxy then there is nothing GOG can do about it. Offline installers will always lag behind though because GOG has manually prepare them, but they can only do that after devs submit the patches to Galaxy and / or GOG.

Here is the dev portal where devs can upload patches: https://devportal.gog.com/welcome

Some devs still don't use it though and send patches the old way to GOG... which is slow and takes a lot longer because GOG has to get them ready.

^ Someone needs to mention this to the devs at the next Surviving Mars Q&A on Twitch.

Apparently GoG and Paradox are in the process of sorting out the issue, but I'm confused why it's taking this long or what exactly needs to be sorted out. I also don't understand why neither team has made any public statement about this.

This is from a GoG representative in response to a support ticket I raised:

I apologise for the delay with Surviving Mars updates, we are currently working with the developer on improving their delivery on GOG.

Oh, CD Projekt now offers a more automated update system?
Interesting.
Not very helpful to me, since I can't use Galaxy to install it anyways...
But, interesting nonetheless.
(No internet available where I live; where the desktop system that can actually run Surviving Mars is. This Dell Latitude 2120 has served me well, but...)

Yeah, CD Projekt haven't really been interested in that sort of thing.
I think it's partially because they are actively trying to push Galaxy, and adding things like email notifications when non-Galaxy updates are available kind of works against that push.
I usually just check https://www.gog.com/account whenever I'm online.
Additional text appears in the "My Collection (###)" line that tells you how many games have updated since you last looked at them.

Is Steam the only platform that is getting updates? I redeemed my GOG Surviving Mars serial on the Paradox site and installed the Paradox Launcher. Still saying 227.831 is the current version.

If that's the case, then the Steam release may be the only one actively being updated at the moment.
Unfortunate.
I guess we'll just have to be patient.
Though, if the content of the bug reports are any indication, that first patch broke more than it fixed.
