No, don't tell me actually ... the exploration is part of the fun. What I do want to know is this: Can the TUTORIAL be won? How long do the 'instructions' last? I've tried playing it a few times and the 'tutorial instructions' seem to last a variable amount of time then I am on my own. When it just says 'You can now build Calvary' rather than 'Build some calvary' should you NOT BUILD any? Are you supposed to send 'colonist' to all provinces in Eire?

I admit the tutorial is a little vague at times and that green arrow can get in the way, too.

However, when I did the tutorial, I colonised all of Eire (it was there) and then did colony or trading post for all of England, Wales and most of Scotland.

Essentially, you don't have to do anything but the bare minimum but (as part of the learning, I guess) you do find it easier to fight natives when you have some cavalry.

Finding the mamelukes? Follow the green arrow. ;)

And then dive into the Grand Campaign as Russia or Turkey or Spain. Then you'll really learn what this game is about. And have fun! :)

This will make it easier to find them, it's what I did in the tutorial: Just press F12 and type in 'columbus' and then hit enter :D

But sereously, yes, there's a green arrow to follow. Look for it and you will find it eventually :)

Columbus to the rescue?

Now there's an idea. Actually though, no one has answered one of my main questions: How long does the 'tutorial' guide you? One time I got it to tell me to 'load army on to ships', other tries, not that much. Should I even care?

Guidance

if you are asking what i think you're asking, you will not get the next tutorial 'guide' to pop up until you have completed what the last one asked. for example, one pops up and says set up 3 trading posts. until you build the three, you get no more instruction. when it tells you to find the mameluks and do whatever, it won't tell you anything else until you do just that (i haven't gotten that far, i gave up following the green arrow to mars!)

when i played the tutorial i went through france, rather than around spain, and by the time i found the mameluks i had a colony on sicily (i anticipated that i'd have to fight them) with lots of troops ready to scrap

imagine my surprize when i then had to build a colony in spain and get troops ready *there* to continue...duh!

Thanks for the Help all

Last night I crossed France also, and did the Alliance thingy. But that was all I really had time for, so its 'start over time' today. At least I got the clue of where the Mam's are and now that I KNOW I will have to do a Spain thing it should help me. Found one of my earlier attempts was frustrated by not 'reading the fine print' (BG), let's see that did say ELIMINATE the natives in one provence? I think this game is a WINNER!
