I think I like the cold wave best. Paints the map a different colour, which is a refreshing change, and I also like how the ambient sound changes. And all is well if you have heaters.

Then meteors. Fun to see stuff whizzing down. And easily manageable if you've got lasers.

Dust storms I don't like. They leave everything caked and the scrubbers take forever to get things back in pristine shape. Not to mention the fact that half your life support is disabled.

Dust devils I like the least, because they can be destructive and I don't know of a way to protect against them.

Cold waves I like esthetically, but in game terms, it's actually the dust devils I prefer, or specifically, the electromagnetic variant - it's an actual natural disaster which catches you entirely by surprise.

Meteors! Preferably away from my base, hello free Metals and Anomalies!

Meteors, then dust devils. The first can have interesting benefits and do damage (my first game, one landed on a universal storage platform with fuel. The whole thing exploded, all resources gone. I no longer allow fuel on any universal storage). The dust devils actually feel like an unpredictable disaster waiting to happen.

The other two are just annoyances. With trivial preparation they have no meaningful effect.

I hate dust devils with a passion. There's absolutely nothing I can do about them and they're way too damaging for what they should be able to do. Screw dust devils, screw them hard.

Huh... Played a game on a "gimped Europe" start yesterday evening ($3Bn initial funding, 1 rocket, 100 RP/day) on a map poor in metals so I brought a couple of Stirlings in the initial setup.

Put down the initial power/water/fuel/hub setup, the second I'm finished, "meteor approaching" (the completely random ones that fall now and then). Strike dead center of that hub, everything disabled, I hadn't brought polymers so no fixing the Stirlings... :p It was an interesting start for sure! :D

My favorite disaster is the comet sighting... But that may just be an old Paradox gamer talking...

Other than that:
The meteors are the most positive (the bonus science is HUGE in the early game). (it doesn't feel like it is adding to the difficulty, rather reducing it)
The cold and dust storms have the most affect on the game, and while I hate to see them (breaking everything each time they show up), I do love having them - the effects are cool and make for interesting gameplay...

All of them at once:
Just got a 3 sol cold wave, 3 sol dust storm (hit halfway of the cold wave) and finished with a 2 sol meteor storm over the second (freshly built) dome, overlapping with the dust storm, while a few dust devil made moving stuff between the two site risky. (no shuttle yet)

Yeah, I honestly like them all. The "Safest" map I have played on was 4 bar cold wave, 4 bar dust storms, 3 bar for meteorites and 2 bar for dust devils. What can I say, I like a good challenge, although even this level of disasters is not that challenging. This is just my experience so far though.
Also if anyone was wondering, yes, I was using the paradox sponsor with this setup.
