Ok. You guys have been great and helped me pick which games to buy in the past. There are so many Paradox Interactive games to pick from, I have trouble deciding. However, I've never been disappointed in any I've purchased yet. If I had unlimited funds I'd get them all and see for myself. But unfortunately I can only get one or two during this sale.

I have:
Europa Universalis III: Complete (Napolean's Ambition, In Nominee)
Victoria Revolutions
Hearts of Iron 2: Anthology and Arsenals of Democracy

These games seem to have a continuous thread running through them and provide different historical contexts. I still intend to run a game from EU all the way trhough to Doomsday.

I love this genre, but am also interested into expanding into other genres (space, fantasy,...?).

I'd be happy to hear any suggestions and maybe explanations about why you like a game you are suggesting.

Mount and Blade sounds interesting.
East India Company seems like it'd have more of a commercial than war focus. That might be interesting.
Sword of the Stars, Tarr Chronicles, Dark Horizon... I've never played a space game...what are they like?
Elven Legacy, Majesty 2 Kingmaker...Never played any fantasy game, but was always curious about what the draw to D&D was. Would give one of these a try if recommended.
Seems like still more historical war games that I could try.

You should but HttT, it greatly enhances EU3 game, and i think it is a must buy for you as already you have EU3 collection. Mount and Blade is very fun, as I have orginal I would recommend to you, it is so fun, fighting is also very enjoyable. EiC is good game but can be boring, the ships fights are amazing, but there is not much to do on 'land' gameplay. My guess would be to buy those first two games, but you should buy M&B Warband, rather than orginal which is much better than orginal. Sword of the Stars I have never played but I think it is a very intresting 4x space game. I think I will let experts talk about this game :)

Well if you plan on running an EU all the way to doomsday I indeed think HttT is a must (and maybe Doomsday too ;) lol)
I just bought it myself and there are quite a few changes that makes it one of the most serious expansion of them all. Even the map has been reworked and all the new cb system brings in a lot of flavor.

If land grabbing is your thing you'll enjoy Crusader Kings. It centers on dynasty building, which is enjoyable too, but the land grabbing and throne-grappling among multitudes of counts, dukes, and kings and their territories are pretty addicting. Grab the Crusader Kings Complete while your at it, Crusader Kings: Deus Vult is a neat expansion to the great game.

Crusader Kings Complete costs < $10 (All prices from GG).

As mentioned above, Mount & Blade is pretty entertaining too. I'm currently playing it and despite some rather distasteful reviews among game sites, it is a GREAT game. I'd recommend Mount & Blade original if you want to play single player as it has plenty of mods to choose from when you get bored playing vanilla (getting bored though will definitely take time). Mount & Blade: Warband is a must if you plan to hack & slash other people from around the globe. It's single player has a lot of improvements on it as well, if you were wondering how it's single player fared compared to the original. Although, mods for it are yet to be transferred.
Mount & Blade Original costs < $15, Mount & Blade: Warband costs another< $15. Buying the bundle costs < $27.50

You will want to complete your EUIII experience. Buy Httt. Doesn't the post of people in the EUIII forums make you want Httt? It's looks good and smells good, how can you not be tempted to buy it?:)

HTTT costs < $10.

I hoped that helped!:D

Haven't heard anything from space or fantasy people yet. I'm really curious what those are like and if or how they compare to historical war games.

Don't know what 4x means for space. Can someone explain that to me please?

I would also recommend Mjaesty if you want to try something completely different.
It's a pretty good funny game.

Of course for a no-risk course i would suggest the main paradox games.:)

Has anyone tried out Supreme Ruler 2020? I've been a bit interested in it but never really gained the momentum to actually get it. How does it compare to PI games? Is it mostly war-oriented?

It's a pretty good game too. It reminds me of Superpower 2. But with a lot more info/details overwhelming you at the start.
There is a lot of economic stuff but in the end you've got to annihilate some ennemy countries...Unlike other Paradox Game like Victoria or even EU3 where you can play as a merchant/economist, SR2020 requires battle, at least i think so.

I'd get HttT for your Complete before anything else - next add-on will be for EU3 ("ROTW") and HttT will be required by it so better grab it now and save some cash.

One game noone else will mention here is Legio, it's like chess but with fantasy figures and with darn good AI, costs nothing and is exactly the game you want if you have 10 minutes to burn during lunch and nothing else to do. :) It costs like nothing at the moment so you can as well replace your minesweeper with it.

I'm terribly sorry but nothing can replace the Minesweeper :p

I thought it is MP only... Well now that IS an option :)

Thanks for the advice guys. I went ahead and bought a bunch of games while they were on sale. I figured I'd eventually get them, might as well get them on the cheap. Just need to not spend that money somewhere else.

Europa Universalis III: Heir to the Throne:
Seems like I can't go wrong with this

Sword of the Stars: Complete:
The last sci-fi space kind of game I played was Mech Warriors. I think I was overdue for something in that genre. I think this game looked pretty neat from all I could dig up about it.

Rise of Prussia:
Not really sure what the AGEOD engine is, but there are several games that look intriguing, including a civil war and world war I game. I'll try Rise of Prussia and if I like it may put the others on my wish list.

Crusader Kings: Complete:
This seemed like a fine game in the tradition of EU, with a twist. Definitely seems worth checking out. And anyway it seems they might come out with a new version if they can get enough facebook interest.

Majesty 2: The Fantasy King and Kingmaker:
This looks like a fun game, kind of reminds me of Age of Empires, but with more flavor to it. Kind of humurous perspective also.

Elven Legacy: Collection:
I couldn't decide if I should get Majesty or Elven. Finally decided since they were half price I'd get both. This also looks like it could be a game that brings a lot of re-playability. Hope I'm right.

Hearts of Iron 3: Complete Pack:
I just recently bought Arsenals of Democracy. Haven't really played it much yet. I was going to wait until a Hearts of Iron 3 Anthology type bundle came out that included Semper Fi and everything. But who knows how long that might be. I went ahead and took the plunge. For all the play time I've gotten out of HOI 2, I can't hardly go wrong with the improved version.

Legio:
This looked like a cool hyped up chess type game. I agreed with earlier poster that this would be a good "light" game to keep on hand when I'm not feeling like getting in depth or just have a short bit of time available. Can't go wrong for the price.

Now hopefully if I get all the registration codes right you should see these in my signature. I'm still disappointed that I couldn't get my box version of HOI2 Anthology registered (there was no code). Oh well, hopefully I got serial numbers for all these games.

Thanks again guys, appreciate your inputs.

Oh, I decided not to go with Mount and Blade, since I have a strong distaste for first person shoot-em ups and those types. Mount and Blade seemed to be something along these lines. I do enjoy the battles in Rome: Total War. Those battles might not be too far from Mount and Blade. Maybe I'll try a Mount and Blade demo if one's available llater and form a new opinion.

It's definetely not shooter. If you played Gothic, you may have an idea how the fighting is done there :)

I personally don't enjoy action games, but M&B gave me hundreds of hours and fun (since 0.3xx in fact) and the modding community there seems to be even more active then the Paradox one!!!

I believe you can download M&B and try it and when you like it you can pay to unlock all of it (or get it at Gamersgate)
http://www.taleworlds.com/main.aspx

M&B is nothing like a shoot'em up and you can try it for free at Talesworld homepage. Definitely worth getting.

I am now hestitating about lost empire and lost empire immortals, can't figure exactly what they are. And Penumbra. If anyone can tell me if they are worth it or not.

Penumbra is awesome.

So awesome i chickened out and couldn't finish the game.
If you enjoy the atmosphere and feeling of not being in control and love to get scared, then this is a great game.:)
