As the release nears I'd like to bump this thread in order to get an answer to this simple question: no Italian? If so, why (if I may ask)? And, again, if so, any chance it will be added in a future time?

I am of course capable of playing in English. I'm just disappointed that seven european languages are present, but not Italian. And, to be honest, to be forced to play in another language in the evening is not my ideal of fun, after using English at work for a whole day...

I imagine this will be moddable. ;)

It's almost certain that the language decision is the publisher's, not the developer's - a strictly economic one.

I assume you find it weird that Italian isn't included and another language on that list was - e.g. Polish. I was just making a joke that most of the languages in the list are global languages by virtue of imperial history. :)

haha, i'm loving this. Maybe you will realise how it feels like playing a game in english, and not in your native language.

:ninja: Now you know how it is being always left out. Deal with it!

sincerely,
All the people from unimportant countries with unimportant languages.

Well, all I could say that it has been the case for Turkish, thinking technology has been really important in Turkey many people found it odd( for comparison iPhone is more expensive compare to Germany, but still there are more phones in Turkey compare to many EU countries ) not to have Turkish language option. Besides English knowledge levels are pretty low, guess that causes many hearth broken gamers and fuels piracy. For me? not really important, playing games in English is more fun  !

Haha really? This is actually something people complain about? "Being forced to play in another language", such a silly thing to complain about, just deal with it. Some of us never get our language translated into games, and frankly I prefer playing in english anyways :p

Well actually, yes for some reason people in the south tend to speak English less than the Northern. I could easily say that many people here in Turkey can't play CKII just because of the language issue. Some tried to localise the content as mods and I really appreciate them, but I seriously think English is another kind of immersion I also played with the German translation, and it's really a good since it's an official one.

Thanks for all the feedback regarding translation. We're happy to see so many vocal fans from around the world champion their own language. Let me contribute by shining some light on why we choose to support certain languages!

#1 : amount of text. This is by far the most important factor when it comes to translation. Luckily CSL is a relatively cheap game to translate as there's not "too much" text. Compare this to RPG's or MMO's for example where you not only have loads of dialogue / quest text but it also has to make sense in context. More doesn't only mean that translators have more work but you also need QA teams that can test the game in that language, adding a large cost.

#2 : market size. We judge how many active and potential players exist in a country and if it's plausible that enough will buy from that country to make it profitable. Basically "will this language earn us money?" After all we're running a business :)

#3 : how well said country reads English. Sweden is a good example here. The market is relatively large so one could think translating to Swedish is a good idea - but then almost every Swede speaks and reads English fluently, so there's little need for them.

There are of course other factors but these are the ones that are most looked at :)

Yeah, You can really count on Portuguese (Brazilian, please!!), we usually have very strong fan-based communities for this genre of game here in Brazil!! I even came to know about it from some of its enthusiasts!!
Thanx post-medieval Portuguese empire!!! (Never thought I'd say that some day!!)
