Hi all,

I am just getting into EU:Rome and was wondering if there was a mod that made it possible to play small tribes like the Lusitani in a less unrestricted way.

I am all ok with the game being historically accurate in the sense that you cant go and conquer all of Europe with them but I would like to play a mod that allows it. Maybe changes to the colonization system?

Well both Epigoni and Reign of the Ancients provide more oppurtunities as there are more other tribes to gobble up (in RotA there is no generic barbarian territory that could be colonized, every province belongs to some country, while in Epigoni (and my mod) there is still barbarian territory where playable tribes have not been added). And then there is my mod where there are also more tribes, but what might set it apart is that the tribes start stronger and actually able to field some sort of armies (and civ-values tend to be higher so some tribes like the Lusitani can colonize), meaning tribes tend to be easier to play as (and those other tribes are more likely to potentially be something that can be regarded as some sort of challenge rather then just harmless speedbumps as in vanilla).

I'll second the suggestion to try Epigoni, Lofmod and Reign of the Ancients - all of these mods add a ton of content and really make the game shine, IMHO. The only way to choose between them is to play short campaigns with each and just see which one fits your style better.

It's also worth having a look at Magna Terra, though it is focused more on the map itself. Fantastic if you want to try an Eastern state in this time period - but good luck getting a World Conquest out of that one!

I'll also suggest trying out Europa Imperialis Map Mod, but then of course I would :D
