I want to buy a WLAN Router/DSL modem with 4 LAN ports to use with Win XP. Can someone recommend me a product that works good for online gaming EU2? The Linksys WRT54G seems to be very popular, is that a good router?

Thanks!

Well, maybe. Search for reviews on this specific router. Each have their own weakness.

I'm using a Netgear RP-614 v2. Never had a problem with it. 4-ports. Easy to use.

edit - Look at www.extremetech.com or www.tomshardware.com

Im using D-link 604...
Nothing i would recomend, cant even get those ports open...

That is the router I am using, and I never have trouble, even when my step-son is using the wireless part of it to play Battlefield 2 at the same time as I am using the LAN to connect in for EU2. That's pretty hefty load being split up and routed efficiently without any lag!

Ask HolisticGod which router HE is using.

Then DON'T BUY IT!!!!

DSY,

"Ask HolisticGod which router HE is using.

Amen to that. If I weren't afraid of losing EU II MP altogether, I'd replace it.

I use a 3com WL 540A and I eventually got it to work with Victoria MP.

Since I have doen so I have had no problems, and I can even host with it too. But the first week with the router was not fun at all. NOT FUN AT ALL!!!!

I'd still recommend it considering it now is my current favourite piece of hardware.

Yep, Ozzeh helped me :)
How? When? and Where? :D

It'd be nice to finally stop unpluggin my router and connecting my PC directly to my ADSL modem every time I play MP.. well.. now it's not everyday (sadly :( ), but it's a pain anyway..

A little OT post, isn't it :D

Anyway:
US Robotics 9106.
Stable, easy to configure, almost perfect IMHO.
4 x 10/100 eth. ports
1 WAN (DSL port - modem included)
802.11b/g
Advanced, but quite easy to manage, firewall (linux ipchains !)

ciao
