Ok - don't tell me, please!

But I'm trying to unify italy. At what year do I know that the events have passed me by? If it's 1870 did I miss it? 1880? 1900?

Round numbers, please, and don't ruin my surprises! I hope the see the events as scripted, unfold.

Just want to know when I've missed it.

Currently playing a game as Italy, and I formed it in 1838-39. It seems if you are the Two Sicilies, the Papal State, or Sardinia Piedmont, and currently occupy [As in either annex, or captured in a war] all the Italian minors' capitals [Roma, Napoli, Firenze, Massa, Lucca, Modena, Parma and Torino an even will fire that makes you Italy proper. A few days later you should get an internal event to give you both Italian culture types, and eventually the option to change your capital to Roma.

This is using Vicky + Ricky and the hotfixes.

You are correct. But you do not need to annex or capture in a war those provinces, only occupy them. That doesn't work for any of the Italiuan minors though, they cannot form Italy, iirc.
