Why am I not invited to the party?

Here is the situation:
Hungary is a vasall to Austria.
Me, Venice, are the leader of an alliance with Austria and the papá. I am not allied with Hungary, because they are a vasall to Austria.
Ottomans DoW Hungary, but I don't have the change to join the war. Isn't that strange?

It doesnt work that way.
If Hungary isnt in your alliance, you wont get invited.
It wouldnt even work if YOU were the vassalowner.

It says in the manual that a vassal's overlord is expected to join in the war if the vassal is attacked: but, as in so many other cases, the manual is wrong

Not your problem, thankfully. Hopefully the Turk will burn enough of his soldiers trying to conquer Hungary that he'll be ripe for you to attack him

"Expected" doesn't mean automatically joining the war. U, as overlord, have to make an effort to protect ur vassal. Show how much u really like them

always help your vassals in wars, you gain more when you annex them then=)

The rules are a bit weak concerning peace negotiations. Sounds like Austria won't have any influence, either, when Turkey and Hungary negotiate. You can lose members of your alliance, too, when they make separate negotiations with one belligerent in a war and are then considered to be alone against all the others.

Seems like a great power should have some way to include them in the "final" peace treaty.
