The only marriage like this that comes to my mind is Tommen and Marg. It happened because Tyrells weren't satisfied only with betrothal, they wanted Margy to be Queen (again?) so freaking bad.

However, if you are experiencing any other child-marriage, it's probably a bug.

AFAIK, if AI marries a random lowborn, they may get assigned a more suitable spouse by event. Children get a negative fertility modifier.
Yeah this, often the ai will make stupid marriages when there are perfectly eligible people they could marry such as a child of one of their vassals. Often they don't if they character is a child still as the ai doesn't seem to handle betrothals, in this case we remove their spouse and marry them to the more suitable option. Because the add_betrothal command doesn't work we have to marry them, to compensate for this we then give the children a negative fertility modifier until they are of age.

In a world where brothers and sisters are making babies, and not even weddings are safe to go to without being brutally killed, 8 year olds being married seems par for the course.
