Basically, what is that aspect that is the reason you play? For me, it's just the idea of all the alternate history things that could come into play. Sometimes I will just go into spectate mode, and watch what happens. Who will colonize America? Can one of the three brother kings unite Iberia and push the Muslims out? Will the allies be too worried about the axis and suddenly find a bear at their door? Of course the actual gameplay is a big thing, but one aspect that's always in my mind is alt history.

Yes, I, too.

The actual gameplay is indeed big.

As for me, I especially like nonblobbing gameplay. The harder it is to expand, the more likely setbacks and even unwelcome contraction are, the happier I am. If it's a huge, 50-year struggle just to win three dearly wanted provinces, them I am most satisfied when I finally secure and keep the provinces; and I then proceed to develop these few provinces carefully. If I can win 30 provinces whose names I hadn't even known, though, that's boring to me.

The exception is historical blobbing. If the country I am playing historically grew fast, then I sometimes like doing that, too.

Production. I don't know, but there is something satisfying about playing as Ethiopia and seeing that I produce 100% of the world's airplanes.
