I've been noticing this in a few games now... the AI seems very, very eager to create alliances. I basically tend to get an alliance offer just a few turns after first contact with a foreign power and this seems to happen a -lot-. I have a pretty small sample size, so could just be coincidence, but... still, they should not be -that- eager to form alliances!

I'm only a couple of games in myself though I prefer larger maps, i've not had any offers for an alliance yet. The most diplomacy i've seen so far from the ai was when the Loa offered me a non agression pact and the Liir-Zuul declared war on me the same turn. If I had to guess i'd say it was coincidence? Sorry that wasn't more helpful

Well, my first trial game was as the Morrigi, the enemies were a Liir and a Loa, it was a fairly small map. The Liir basically offered me an alliance the turn after we met; the Loa took a bit longer, but offered one after a while anyway. So I basically won that game without firing a shot.

Might have to do with the fact I'm Morrigi, maybe?

Or...more to do with your goverment type, your actions in game and so on (game and AI keep track), as well as your empire size compared to theirs and so on. AI responds differently based on those factors.

My government always seems to go for Anarchy, so maaaaybe that's related. As for empire size, I think mine tends to be pretty small compared to the AI.

But anyway, I mostly just wanted to see if others had such an issue! If not, then it's probably just a fluke, I'll keep playing and see how it goes.

Consider yourself to be really lucky. I seem to have the exact opposite issue - everyone wants to attack me! It seems the only way I can avoid being conquered is to select a nation militarily strong enough to repel any possible invasion and/or a nation surrounded by sea with a strong navy.

Meanwhile my small-sample-size data is that people tend not to make any kind of diplomatic advances to me, either friendly or hostile. Which is inconvenient, since I'd really rather not go out and stomp somebody until I've been given a proper invitation.
