As anyone who has the pack knows, you cannot zone mixed use residential because it breaks the demand mechanics.

The advice is `don't zone mixed use residential'. That's not acceptable. Anyone trying to build a remotely realistic UK city will have to build a lot of streets with mixed use.

Who are the modders who created this bugged pack? Does anyone know when it will be fixed please?

Ok thanks. It's when you zone mixed use that the problem occurs. Since many UK towns and cities have lots of streets near the centre with mixed use, it's not possible to build a realistic UK city at the moment until this is fixed.

It isn't just mixed use, also not end of world stuff; just use alternatives and when it's fixed slowly re-zone them to the UK ones.

I had the same problem and as someone has said around Reddit and the forums, the problem is with the 4u deep assets of the UK pack. I've bulldozed them all and demand normalised immediately. 2u deep assets seem to work normally and do not break demand.

As others have said, this should not be the case but we hope they can fix this quickly.

Most probably they can.

The real problem however is that obviously you CAN create assets (buildings) which are causing that effect. Which raises some questions about the conception and implementation of buildings and what they are doing in the game.

And it should be a warning sign for anyone who wishes to have the Asset Editor available soon.
Either that thing will be released with only limited options or I can promise you that there will be soon custom made assets which are causing the same effect, may it be intentional or accidentally.
Neither of these options are good ones.

Its not the modders fault
PDX and CO have given them a broken and buggy solution to their problems and until the Asset editor is complete the packs will remain buggy

As someone who has growing cities (200k + pop etc) with 95%+ residential being from the UK pack, can you just talk me through what the issue is here?

I don't recognise there being an issue.

Although I know if you put lots of mixed use in when there is only demand for, say, residential, then you get lots of unrented commercial places. But I don't see that as a bug - just a natural consequence of what I've built.

I've seen various posts about this, and clearly to some people something major is going on, but an explanation of the issue would be really appreciated for those who don't (seem) to have the issue and hence are missing the shared reference point at the start of the conversation.

Thank you

It creates an inbalance in demand for the building types that charge rent, because 66.66% of the pack allow them to live rent free. Many full explanantions are here on the forum and places like redit; and the issue has been acknowledged. You can get to 2m sims, doesn't mean it isn't broken, most folk wouldn't notice because of there play style...it causes several negative side affects.

Hello everyone!

I hope you enjoyed some time off over the holiday period to rest, and spend time with your families!
I spent my holiday period looking into and hopefully fixing the UK pack, which I think I have successfully managed. I will not update it immediately as that would be irresponsible to do without testing, which may beg the question why did we post it in the first place without testing? and the answer to that is, we did test it, this bug just wasn't immediately evident and unfortunately got past us.

I will beg your extended patience just a little further and I will hopefully update the pack very soon, and fingers crossed it resolves the problems and we don't miss any new bug. These things always keep me up at night!
Thanks and happy new year!

I guess PDX and CO have added squatters to the game by accident

They are european, they probably closed for 3-4 weeks for the holidays.
This is true. But they could have at least said something before dipping out for a month again. Just shows the disdain and lack of respect that CO seems to have towards their own customers. They'd rather keep us in the dark out of fear of backlash than have any sort of much needed communication with the people who are still waiting for improvements and haven't completely given up on the game.

Such a disrespect to go for holidays during holiday season and not saying that during holiday season to will be out for holidays ... just like about 50% of earth's population ... #noholiday4devs
Nobody is saying they can't go on holidays. Nice straw-man fallacy though. The LACK OF COMMUNICATION is the problem. I've been a CS1 fan for nearly a decade and follow other Finland-based companies, I understand their holiday schedule and how they tend to operated. The lack of communication, especially given the state of the game, the lack of an asset editor, the game-breaking bugs shows a lack of care and is the problem. A simple short post letting the community (many of who are not aware of Finland and CO's month-long holiday breaks) know what their priorities for the next year are, the progress they've made in recent months (have they made any really? Outside of the miniscule bug fixes we've had in recent months?), perhaps throw in a "happy holidays" for good measure and let us know that they are not abandoning the game like many people have started to believe. It's called having half-decent PR. They could certainly use it after their handling of this game's release.

They made an optimistic pledge to improve their communication and relationship with the community. Blowing the community off is not a good look, and you can see the results in this forum and any other. People are not happy.

Will this fix some other UK pack issues? For example, I remember that one of the school extensions added only 50 students. It looks like, for the price, it should have added 500, especially since there are 2 upgrades at about the same price (one adding 500 places, the other 50).

Kind of make me wanna ask, who needs a virus when a building can be viralised.

This will depend on what has been reported in the official bug reports forum or not. I can only fix issues I know about and no matter how much I try, I unfortunately can't be in every space looking for issues!
I won't give a detailed list of fixes here just yet though.
