On the current steam sale, Res Publica is 50% off, while Wealth of Nations is 33% off. Is this an error, when taking into account that Res Publica is newer than Wealth of Nations?

Both are still fresh. It is only a guess but I think that the sales of Res Publica weren't that great, because it is a mini expansion, usefull only if you like Holland and Poland. Demand is lower for it, thus the higher discount.

Maybe even Paradox doesn't want anyone to buy CoP so broken?

Edit: Well I read all of that wrong. While my point still stands, maybe WoN is too new-ish and big so that they are hesitant to heavily drop it's price yet.

Wait, what does Cop have to do with the price of WoN? Also, why do you consider CoP to be broken? I've played a few games with random Americas and one game with a tribe and I don't recall encountering any bugs.

There is no bug. Only maybe the one where a new colonized province stays with the "?" instead of getting a Good produced.

Note that the sale also includes daily deals. CK2 is up on the first day, and most of its discounts are 75 percent, so there's hope that a EU4 day will come with bigger discounts on this game's dlc as well.

This would make sense when taking into account that EU4 isn't on the catalogue that's on sale. And EU4 is only 70% off.

Hi all,

Thank you for noticing, we have so many items on sale (about 400 total) and a lot of things too coordinate at the launch of this kind of sale so that is just as someone here referred to a mistake. We usually don't do promotions in the first 3 months and not above 50% for something released in the last 6 months. But Wealth of Nations and the Trade Nation and Muslim Ships should be on 50% off as well. We will do our very best to try to fix that tonight together with the Steam guys. If we doesn't manage we'll the three DLC's next week on our own website for 50% off!

And EUIV should be on 75% off! http://store.steampowered.com/app/236850/

Good for you to know, Steam to our knowledge doesn't really do that kind of one day extra deep discounts any longer so what you see now is what you get.

Have fun with the new games I hope you pick up during the weekend!

Have a great weekend

Hmm! That's not really the impression that you get when you read Paradox's own announcement:

It’s Steam Sale Weekend for Paradox, which means that some of our biggest hits will be sold for new low prices! Starting today and lasting through Sunday, October 5, 2014, a different game from Paradox will be available each day at steep discounts through Valve’s Steam platform.

We’re starting the daily deals by offering Crusader Kings II for 75% off.

This makes it sound as though CK2 is cheaper at the moment than it's going to be later on during the sale and that three other games are going to be offered at bigger discounts that they currently have. I was hoping that EU4 would be among them.

Are you sure that the prices currently shown will not change (apart from the increased discounts for Wealth of Nations etc. that you've just mentioned to correct the errors?)

Hi Chicken Spadge,

I am 110% sure it won't change during the sale. But it is a new way for Steam arranging their sales of this kind so clearly we have haven't managed to communicate clearly that their process have changed internally and hence miss-communicated. Please excuse our unclear messaging, I'll see with my colleagues what we can do to update that text if possible!

In order to avoid misunderstandings I'm here trying to answer questions like this, thank you for pointing it out!

You know, something tells me that if Wealth of Nations should have a 50-percent discount instead of a 33-percent one, then maybe Conquest of Paradise should have a 75-percent discount instead of a 66-percent one. :)

I'm still waiting for at least a 75% discount in both expansions

Me too, but Wealth of Nations and Res Publica were released in May and July, so with the six-month rule we'll probably have to wait at least a while longer for those two. Conquest of Paradise was released in January, however.
